关于我们

The High Line is both a nonprofit organization and a public park on the West Side of Manhattan. Through our work with communities on and off the High Line, we’re devoted to reimagining the role public spaces have in creating connected, healthy neighborhoods and cities. Built on a historic, elevated rail line, the High Line was always intended to be more than a park. You can walk through gardens, view art, experience a performance, savor delicious food, or connect with friends and neighbors-all while enjoying a unique perspective of New York City. Nearly 100% of our annual budget comes through donations from people like you, who help us operate, maintain, and program the park. The High Line is owned by the City of New York and we operate under a license agreement with NYC Parks. https://www.facebook.com/highlinenyc https://twitter.com/highlinenyc https://instagram.com/highlinenyc

Meet Iván Argote— the artist behind "Dinosaur," the colossal, hyper-realistic sculpture of a pigeon cast in aluminum that will be "landing" on the High Line this week. "Dinosaur" was first submitted as a proposal for the High Line Plinth in 2020, among 80 proposals that included the third High Line Plinth commission, Pamela Rosenkranz’s "Old Tree" (2023). Iván Argote is the first Plinth artist from the global south, and the youngest yet. His work as an artist and filmmaker is heavily focused on social justice issues and historical processes, inspired by his childhood in Bogotá, as he grew up in a family with a long tradition of political and social activism. Through sculptures, installations, films, and interventions, Argote harnesses the power of humor and tenderness to question our intimate relationship with others, institutions, power, and belief systems. With "Dinosaur," Argote proposes a new symbolic use of public space, and challenges our traditional and accepted ideas of New York City's iconic pigeons and what we choose to memorialize, revere, and remember. To learn more about "Dinosaur" ahead of its landing, use the link in our bio and plan your visit to the High Line to see it! ??? "Dinosaur," Iván Argote ?? October 2024 — Spring 2026 ?? One fair, endless optimism backed by action. ?? Earlier this week, the High Line's visitors were at the center of #ClimateWeekNYC at Emerson Collective's #ClimateScienceFair. Free and accessible to all, the Climate Science Fair convened dreamers and innovators to showcase the big, bold climate ideas that are *already* making a difference in our communities. Science enthusiasts spent their time making eco-friendly bug repellent, diving into the world of the High Line and New York City's native plants, and even practicing their whale communication! ?? ?? We are overjoyed to continue to maintain the High Line as a space for curious New Yorkers to convene and #EmbraceWonder. Thank you to our friends at Emerson Collective for their vision and partnership in bringing the Climate Science Fair to life on our park!

If you've ever found yourself wonderstruck by the naturalistic design of our gardens, it is largely due to world-renowned garden designer Piet Oudolf's vision for our four-season park. This fall, we are elated to offer an insider’s look at the High Line’s gardens during an upcoming conversation with Piet Oudolf on the park on Tuesday, October 8. ?? As the culminating event of our horticulture celebration during the 15th anniversary of the park, we will celebrate Oudolf’s unique artistry and pioneering naturalistic—or nature-inspired—approach to garden design, which were integral in translating the wild magic of the self-seeded landscape of the once-derelict railway into the public green space you see today. Hosted by the High Line’s executive director, Alan van Capelle, Oudolf will be joined in conversation by acclaimed author and photographer, Ngoc Minh Ngo, and High Line Senior Director of Horticulture Richard Hayden. ???? While tickets are limited and only available until we reach capacity, we will be sure to update our digital audiences with highlights from the conversation. We hope you'll join us at the park for the opportunity to deeper into Oudolf’s design ethos, the power of naturalistic gardens, and his experiences with the High Line’s ever-changing landscape over the last 15+ years. ??: Tuesday, October 8 | 6-7:30pm ???: Limited availability: https://bit.ly/47G5HuD ??: On the High Line between 15th and 16th Streets ??: Rowa Lee

??: You're invited to spend #ClimateWeekNYC on the High Line! From September 21 – 23, we are proud to host the Emerson Collective Climate Science Fair! Throughout the fair, over 30 organizations will convene to share the bold, innovative climate ideas they are implementing to create healthier ecosystems. Folks who stop by our booth will be able to learn about how the High Line works year-round to support New York City's ecosystem and mitigate the impacts of climate change. "We cool the neighborhood down. We also have pollinators located all throughout the High Line, so we are also growing an ecosystem that Henry Hudson would've seen 400 years ago when he came to New York," our executive director Alan van Capelle told NY1 News. Our horticulture team will be on hand to teach about our park's native plants, provide expert gardening tips, and even show you how to make your own eco-friendly bug repellent. ?? The Emerson Collective Climate Science Fair is free and accessible to all lifelong learners. Thanks to our friends at NY1 for stopping by, and we hope to see you all at the park during the fair! ??: September 21 – 23 ??: On the High Line ??: https://lnkd.in/eVNmcDe3
