The Friends of Patterson Park is an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization with a mission to ensure the park’s vitality as a treasured green space and encourage its use and appreciation by neighbors, visitors, and future generations. We work in partnership with Baltimore City Recreation and Parks to maintain and promote a positive park image, provide a forum for ensuring community input into park changes, increasing fiscal and human resources for park programs and projects, fostering park stewardship in the community, and developing events and programs that bring our diverse community into the park to learn, recreate, and make friends.

It's so great to be able to share the new building with some of our closest friends...our fantastic volunteer Gardening Team stopped by for a "hard hat" tour and sneak peek of the Community Programming and Volunteer Support Center buildings this week! We're grateful for all they do, and can't wait to be able to better support their efforts with our new space! Updates on the project can be found here: https://loom.ly/VhQIs9k

Earlier this summer, in partnership with Nature Sacred, we offered an interactive book club four Monday evenings outside in the park, led by mindfulness guide Phillip McKnight and LaceUp founder Joyce England. Together the group explored new corners of the park, deepened our acquaintance with our park's trees, engaged all of their senses, and took time to unwind from their busy days. The book, The Nature Fix by Florence Williams, was our guide, and we were incredibly honored that at our last session the author joined us by Zoom! We had such a good time that we plan to do it again in the fall...stay tuned for details!

In honor of the stories of neighbors sleeping out in the park to escape the heat, we revived the camping event Park After Dark ?, affectionately known as PAD. More than 150 people enjoyed s’mores, a nature walk ?? and a beautiful night in the park! Huge thanks to our partners Breath of God Lutheran Church, Realtor Rebecca Hall, and Leftover Love who organized and provided the food for the event. We couldn't have done it without them or the people who pitched their tents with us! ?? Check out more photos at https://lnkd.in/eACt9nux

You may have noticed some work beginning at the Observatory today! While the approvals for the decking are finalized, contractors started on resetting and leveling the pavers around the building, as well as power-washing the ground surfaces. We're excited to see this progress and look forward to the next step - new decks! We'll keep you posted on the timeline as we have it! #pattersonparkobservatory

Meet some of our 2024 Youthworker cohort! This amazing and enthusiastic group has jumped right in to learning about trees and tree care, as well as working as a team and leadership skills.
