Congrats to Friends of MacArthur Beach State Park! The Board of the Treasure Coast Chapter of the Florida Association of Environmental Professionals (TCC FAEP) selected Friends of MacArthur Beach State Park to receive the 2024 Public Engagement and Education Award for their exemplary work in the environmental professional community. Friends CEO Veronica Frehm and Park Manager Andy Flanner accepted the award last night from TCC FAEP Board President Gina Chiello, WEDG at the Annual Awards Banquet.

Earlier this month, Friends CEO Veronica Frehm Frehm accepted an award for Friends of MacArthur Beach State Park from the North Palm Beach Business Advisory Board. Friends of MacArthur Beach State Park was chosen as the Business of the Season for our outstanding achievements and community involvement within the Village of North Palm Beach! We are thrilled to have received this honor in the community. Thank you!

Today, new Friends of MacArthur Beach State Park board members Peter Troup, Thomas Chesnes, Natalie Carron, Adam Jones, Steve Lomicka, Lauren Perry, President Teri Jabour, and President Elect W Mason, joined CEO Veronica Frehm, Park Manager Andy Flanner and Assistant Park Manager Jacob Bennett for a Behind the Scenes look at how we make MacBeach the best park it can be. We are so excited for their ideas, expertise, and skills to add to the greatness!

Friends of MacArthur Beach State Park was thrilled to partner with ANGARI Foundation to release our two Sea Turtle Ambassadors from the Park. We are thrilled to have these ambassador species at John D. MacArthur Beach State Park to educate thousands of visitors each year about the interconnectedness of the ocean and help people understand their role in conservation efforts. They are cared for at the Park under the guidance of FWC and then released at the appropriate time. We will be getting two more ambassador sea turtles soon! All photos and videos were taken under permission and in accordance with permit # MTPP-23-147-19.

ANCA’s Fiscal Year began yesterday, and with the new fiscal year come updates to the Board of Directors. Please join us in welcoming Veronica Frehm and Bryan Wood to the Board! Veronica Frehm is the CEO of Friends of MacArthur Beach State Park in North Palm Beach, Florida. Veronica received the 2023 ANCA Outstanding New Leader Award. In addition to bringing the perspective of a new leader to the Board, Veronica is well-versed in the topic of public/private partnerships. She serves on the ANCA Leadership Awards Committee, as an ANCA Mentor, and Peer Consult Team Member. Bryan Wood has served as the Executive Director of Osprey Wilds Environmental Learning Center in Sandstone, Minnesota, for 15 years. Bryan is an experienced leader of a residential environmental learning center and has been active in the Minnesota Outdoor School for All campaign.  Bryan has served on the ANCA Development Committee since 2017, is an ANCA Mentor, and Peer Consult Team Member. With the Board updates, we also thank Glenna Holstein for her many contributions to ANCA. Glenna departs the ANCA Board after six years. During her tenure, she chaired ANCA’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee and served on the ANCA Governance Committee. While Glenna will no longer chair the DEI Committee, she will continue volunteering as a member and she is joining the Peer Consult Committee. We appreciate Glenna’s ongoing commitment to our profession!
