As the most challenging school year ends, we are immensely proud of our students at the International School for their impressive achievements amidst uncertainty and conflict. Their resilience and success in the IB program finals demonstrate the potential for shared life in Israel. The Jewish-Arab Peace Center's recent conference, "Education under the Shadow of War," highlighted the impact of the war on our youth and the importance of humanist education. Educators from both communities showed true partnership in addressing these challenges. Our Through Others’ Eyes photography exhibition, "Sobering Up," features powerful works by Jewish and Arab youth, offering thought-provoking insights into our complex reality. The Jewish-Arab Center for Peace at Givat Haviva held a conference titled "Education under the Shadow of War," bringing together educators and leaders to discuss the war's impact on students and educators from both societies. Key speakers highlighted the challenges of maintaining education amidst conflict and emphasized the importance of partnership and coexistence. Michal Sella, CEO of Givat Haviva, and Ola Najami, Director of the Center, stressed the need to overcome extremist forces and build a society based on mutual respect and understanding. As we reflect on the past nine months, Givat Haviva’s mission to foster a shared society among all Israeli citizens has never been more vital. Despite significant challenges, we remain committed to strengthening Arab-Jewish relations. We are proud to share some significant milestones from our various programs and new initiatives. In the face of an unprecedented year, we remain committed to our mission of fostering mutual respect, trust, and equality between Jewish and Arab citizens in Israel. The perseverance of our staff and program participants gives us hope and reinforces the importance of education in promoting a more inclusive society.
