The number one trait to look for when hiring? Humility. If it’s not there, nothing else matters. As Amy Mayer from friEdTech put so well.... You can teach someone how to use new tech or pick up a specific skill, but you can’t teach humility. It’s the foundation of growth, collaboration, and learning. Humble people listen, admit when they’re wrong, and constantly look for ways to get better. That mindset is priceless. Here’s why humility matters more than technical skills: 1?? Openness to feedback – Humble people are willing to learn from their mistakes and grow. 2?? Team collaboration – They put the team’s success above their own ego. 3?? Continuous improvement – They never assume they know it all and always seek to get better. Anyone can learn the technical stuff. But if they don’t have the soft skills that matter; like being open to feedback, working well with others, and putting the team first—no amount of talent will make up for it. Hiring humble people means building a team that’s coachable, adaptable, and eager to grow. Skills can be trained, but character is something you either have or you don’t.
