Third grade students from Williams Elementary School took a field trip to our district’s new Arts Education Center Gallery to experience seeing their own artwork displayed in a gallery setting. Herrera Elementary students took part in a Ruby Bridges Walk on their campus, joining other schools in our district and beyond in recognizing the legacy of civil rights activist Ruby Bridges. ????♂? Herrera students in all grades also engaged in educational activities focused on Ms. Bridges. The goal of the Ruby Bridges Walk to School initiative is to inspire students to make positive changes in their school and community. In 1960, 6-year-old Ruby etched her name in history when she integrated all-white William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans. Since then, Ruby has become a national icon for her brave actions and continues to inspire people to combat racism and bullying. #AchievingOurGreatestPotential
