?? Google Tag Manager (GTM) is changing. Here’s what you need to know. ?? Starting April 10, 2025, GTM will automatically load the Google Tag if a Google Ads, Floodlight, or Conversion Linker tag is in your container – even if it’s paused. What does this mean? ? More reliable tracking – for Google ? Less control – for you If you’ve carefully managed how and when your tags fire, this change could override your setup, prioritize Google’s data collection, and impact privacy compliance. What You Can Do Next: 1?? Check Your GTM Setup – If your container has Google Ads, Floodlight, or Conversion Linker tags (active or paused), the Google Tag will be inserted automatically. 2?? Look for Paused Tags – Pausing a tag won’t stop this update. If you don’t want Google’s tag loading, you’ll need to delete it. 3?? Monitor Google Tag Insertions – Google may re-add its tracking script without action on your part. Keep an eye on your GTM container before and after April 10. 4?? Test Before April 10 – If you’re not a Freshpaint customer, make sure you understand how this change affects your tracking before the deadline so you’re not caught off guard.? 5?? Review Your Privacy Settings – This update gives Google more control over data collection. If compliance matters to you (HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA), double-check your safeguards. 6??
