Three FRAME laureates for the new edition of Museums Next Generation For its third edition, the Museums Next Gen program (Villa Albertine) will enable seven French curators to travel from Texas to the East Coast of the United States to strengthen their professional skills on American soil and meet key museum figures across the Atlantic. Museums Next Gen was initiated in 2023 by Villa Albertine. It is dedicated to new generations of museums curators. The program encourages field experience and immersion in new contexts to increase their knowledge of the contemporary museum world and nurture new transatlantic reflections essential to their careers. Museums Next Gen is held twice a year – alternately in France and the United States – each time for ten days. The current edition will start in Texas, and then will extend to New York and the East Coast, from April 7 to 17, 2025. Since 2024, FRAME has been a partner of the Villa Albertine as part of Museums Next Gen. The network is happy to encourage the careers of young curators by hosting them at some of FRAME events during their travels. Several FRAME museums are also opening their doors to them. The Villa Albertine is delighted to support young FRAME professionals on these exploratory missions. Of the seven curators selected by the jury from a total of 40 candidates, three are members of the FRAME*?network. After eight years on the road, the exhibition “Prière de toucher, l'Art et la Matière” [Please Do Touch! Art and Matter] has just been opened at the Musée des beaux-arts de Rennes in a new version, curated by Stéphanie Bardel, Head of the Visitors Department. Organized with the support of FRench American Museum Exchange, Inc. (FRAME), this is the final stage of a long-term exhibition co-organized by seven fine arts museums in the FRAME network (Montpellier, Lyon, Rouen, Lille, Bordeaux, Nantes, Rennes). Presented until April 20, 2025, this is the major seasonal exhibition of the Museum of Fine Arts in Rennes, and the last opportunity to experiment it. Don't miss it if you visit Brittany (north-west France)! “Prière de toucher, l'Art et la matière” draws on the sensory experience of sculpture for visual impaired people to imagine new education practices for everyone. Physical touch has the power to raise awareness, to move, and therefore to touch the soul, in addition to what sight provides in terms of learning and artistic delight. With the aim to foster inclusion and a greater mix of audiences, the exhibition was initially developed by Musée Fabre in Montpellier (South of France) in partnership with the Louvre Museum. As a member of FRAME, Montpellier generously offered to tour the exhibition throughout the network, allowing it to evolve and enrich over time thanks to the cooperative and supportive work that defines FRAME's professional relationships. In Rennes, the exhibition is augmented by an education space for all and by a structure for very young child. The exhibition is a perfect example of what a welcoming museum is, as discussed during the FRAME annual conference in Nancy a month ago. Since 2019, FRAME has obtained the support of the Ministère de la Culture in France and Givaudan to promote the implementation of “Prière de toucher”. Our warmest thanks to them. delphine galloy ; Jean-Roch Bouiller ; Stéphanie Dumand ; Odile Hays ; chantal meslif ; Typhaine Rouxel ; Musée Fabre ; Musée du Louvre ; Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon ; Réunion des Musées Métropolitains ; Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille ; Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux ; Musée d'Arts de Nantes ; Musée des beaux-arts de Rennes #DEIA #welcomingmuseum

A week ago, FRAME closed the doors on its annual conference in the city of Nancy in eastern France. The three-day event (October 23-25, 2024) brought together over 80 professionals from French and American museums, not forgetting the Philanthropic Trustees who are faithfully supporters of FRAME for many years! Newcomers took part in this major Franco-American event for the first time: the Musée de l'Hospice Comtesse in Lille (North of France) and the Musée d'Orsay and Musée de l’Orangerie, Paris. Participants gathered around two main themes: “Provenance research in French and American museums” and “Hospitality as a fundamental topic for museums on both sides of the Atlantic”. As part of its partnership with the Villa Albertine, FRAME caught up with the seven American curators from the “Museums Next Generation” program, who were just finishing their "Grand Tour" of France for 10 days. They attended, with the whole group of FRAME professionals, lectures by Catherine Chevillot, Senior Curator, Head of the Provenance Mission Project (Ministère de la Culture, France), and Lucian Simmons, Head of Provenance Research at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The two keynote speakers of the 2024 edition presented a brilliant panorama of current challenges and actions regarding this field in France and the United States. The subject was then illustrated by different case studies from the FRAME museums. Many thanks to all the speakers and participants who made this year's event such a success! Our gratitude also goes to the City of Nancy and Nancy-Musées, and their staff, without whom the magic of the moment would never have worked so well! FRAME is also grateful to the Opéra national de Lorraine for its warm welcome on the very first day of the conference in the presence of a representative of the Embassy of the United States to France and U. S. Consulate general in Strasbourg. #VilleNancy ; Bertrand Masson ; Nicole Creusot ; Fred DERYCKE-LAFOSSE ; Richard Dagorne ; Susana Gállego Cuesta ; Sophie Laroche ; Kenza-Marie SAFRAOUI ; Valérie Thomas ; Claire Berthommier ; Lucie Chappé ; Véronique BAUDOUIN ; Lucie P. ; Victoria Clemens ; Eric Maugras ; US Embassy Paris ; Bridget Nievinski ; Villa Albertine, the French Institute for Culture and Education ; Christelle Creff ; William Beekman ; Stéphanie Bardel ; Mélanie Deveault ; Julian Zugazagoitia ; Sylvain Cordier ; Robert Blaizeau ; Emilie Girard ; Lori Iliff ; MacKenzie Mallon ; Nicolas Misery ; Paul Lang ; Susan Talbott ; Jillian Jones ; Yves Théoret ; Bastien Colas ; Helene Fourneaux ; Aurelie Voltz ; Stéphane Paccoud ; Florence Raymond ; marie-anne du boullay #Provenanceresearch #Welcomingmuseum #museumexchange #DEIA
