Yesterday, we celebrated the final lineup for Captain John Harnett! Captain Harnett has been at FPD since 1999, and has been one of our captains since 2018, most recently commanding our Administrative Operations Division. He has served in many different capacities throughout his career, including as Field Training Officer, SWAT team member and team leader, Arrest Control Instructor, Driving Instructor, Property Crimes Detective and Robbery/Homicide Detective. One of his most recent leadership projects was over our Department’s Wellness Initiative, in which he spearheaded several projects aimed at caring for the health and wellbeing of our employees here at FPD. Captain Harnett’s leadership has been an integral part of FPD’s impact in the community. He has been awarded several advanced certificates in police leadership and has been active in volunteering for community causes and events. He has received more than 50 letters of appreciation and reports of commendable performance. We are grateful for Captain Harnett’s work in service to FPD and the City of Fremont, and we wish him well on this new chapter of life!
