USPS Industry Alert: America's 75th Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy has notified the USPS Board of Governors that it is time to find his successor. DeJoy served as Postmaster General of the USPS since 2020, and during his tenure, DeJoy worked with his team and the Board to define the strategic path of the USPS in efforts to bring large-scale modernization and change to the organization. In DeJoy's recent letter to the Board, he writes "I am proud to have served the American people and American businesses as Postmaster General. The United States Postal Service is a cherished American institution, and I am privileged to have led it during such extraordinary times. Further, I am fully committed to the continued success of the Postal Service for all Americans after my departure." ??In November, construction concluded at Freedom's Milton facility, on a number of renovations that revitalize the space. Most notably is the new history wall, which showcases “Where It All Started”, from Freedom’s founding in 1986, to its current position in the direct mail space. This wall will serve as a reminder of how far we’ve come, and as inspiration as we look towards the future. We appreciate the patience of our Milton facility employees as the renovations took place. USPS INDUSTRY ALERT: "A National Day of Observance has been declared to honor the death of former President, Jimmy Carter. The Postal Service will suspend regular mail deliveries, retail services and administrative office activity on Thursday, January 9, 2025. The Postal Service will continue to accept and process volume dropped by commercial mailers at mail processing facilities. There will be limited package delivery service on January 9 to ensure the organization does not experience any impacts to its package delivery operations that may negatively affect customers or business partners. All Postal Service facilities—including Headquarters in Washington, DC, and area and district administrative offices—are included in the National Day of Observance.
