Exciting news! We're thrilled to share that our annual KEGGY Awards will now take place in April, aligning with our commitment to making a positive impact during Earth Month. Since its start in 2014, we have recognized winery and distributor partners, as well as on-premise accounts for their commitment to sustainability by choosing reusable stainless-steel kegs - a truly zero-waste package. With the move to April, the People's Choice nominations will open next week. Be sure to nominate your favorite wine on tap account for this year's award! #KEGGYAwards #wineontap #drinksustainably

Cheers to Tablas Creek Vineyard for their continued success in their sustainability efforts including serving their wines on tap!
It’s time to fill up those kegs! Two years after deciding to serve the majority of our tasting room samples from kegs, we’re convinced it was the right choice. This week we kegged up Vermentino, Patelin de Tablas Rosé, and Dianthus Rosé.? ? Why kegs in our tasting room? Because bottles account for half the carbon footprint of the average winery, and there is no bottle less worth the resource cost than one that holds wine that will never leave the building. Plus there are benefits in:? ? Freshness: Kegged wine stays as fresh even as you start pouring. The inert gas that replaces the wine ensures it isn’t exposed to oxygen, unlike an opened bottle, which starts oxidizing immediately. With kegs, the last glass is as fresh as the first.? ? Less Waste: Restaurants and tasting rooms waste a significant amount of wine from opened bottles—sometimes as much as 25%! Kegs solve this problem by keeping wine fresh until the very last drop, meaning less wasted wine. ? Sustainability: Think about everything that goes into a bottle—glass, cork, capsule, label—all of which is discarded after a single use. Kegs eliminate all of that unnecessary waste. Plus, reusable stainless steel kegs slash the carbon footprint of wine packaging by 76%, according to our friends at Free Flow Wines.? ? We’re not expecting to go 100% kegged in our tasting room; there will always be a place for tasting wines with bottle age. But if switching 75% of our pours to kegs means fresher wine, less waste, and fewer single-use bottles? That’s a win for everyone—our guests, our budget, and the planet.?

Serving wine on tap supports service speed that’s more than twice as fast as pouring from bottles. This is because there are no foils or corks to remove, no need for staff to pre-taste wines to make sure they’re showing well, and far less legwork keeping fridges & shelves stocked and emptying recycling bins. Take the grunt work out of serving wine by-the-glass, bring in some extra money, and elevate the customer experience in the process! #zerowaste #drinksustainably #wineontap
