On Tuesday, February 25th, members of the Frederick Health team gathered to hear a presentation on Greenmount Cemetery, a historically black cemetery that was once partially located on the grounds where Frederick Health Hospital now stands. Dr. Denise Rollins, a member of the Frederick Health Board shared her family connections to Greenmount Cemetery. Dr. Cheryl Cioffi, Chief Administrative Officer, discussed the history of Greenmount Cemetery and Frederick Health and the plans Frederick Health has to protect and preserve the hallowed grounds. The event also highlighted efforts of the Greenmount Cemetery Working Group, a collection of Frederick Health team members, community stakeholders, Greenmount Cemetery descendants, organizations like the NAACP and AARCH Society (African American Resources Cultural and Heritage Society), retired historians, preservationists, and civic planners. We look forward to continuing to share this poignant and important story. #FrederickCountyCare
