On Friday, October 11th?from 1:30 – 2:00 pm, the White House Office of Public Engagement and Interagency Community Investment Committee (ICIC) is having a virtual briefing where they will outline federal support and resources for small and minority businesses in Maryland. Join Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo, Representative Glenn Ivey (D-MD-04), and other officials to discuss how the Administration is working across the federal government and with state and local partners to streamline resources, expand access to capital, and provide technical assistance and training opportunities for small and underserved businesses and entrepreneurs throughout Maryland. Attention Military Veteran Business Owners & Employees! We are thrilled to announce the launch of our Veterans Success Committee! The mission of the Veterans Success Committee is to enhance the ability of veterans to own, expand, and lead businesses at all scales in our community. Join the committee for their first gathering at the Chamber office next Friday, September 6th at 10 AM. These gatherings will become a regular feature of our veteran business engagement and will focus on the unique opportunities and challenges faced by military service vets. The Frederick County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the addition of Shirt Pun, founded by Maddie Wojdan, as our first-ever youth entrepreneur member. At just 16 years old, Maddie has already achieved remarkable success in the world of business, having celebrated the one-year anniversary of Shirt Pun in March of 2024. Maddie’s journey began at the age of 15, and over the past year and a half, she has transformed her passion for apparel into a thriving business that is making a positive impact on the Frederick community. Shirt Pun was born out of Maddie’s enthusiasm for fashion and her strong desire to make a difference in her hometown. With a mission to spread joy and positivity, Shirt Pun creates unique and uplifting apparel, while also offering custom printing services for local businesses, non-profits, and events. Maddie’s dedication to high-quality products and her commitment to giving back have fostered a ripple effect of kindness throughout the community. "I started Shirt Pun to combine my love for apparel with a desire to make a meaningful difference in Frederick," said Maddie. "Through my business, I aim to spread smiles and contribute to the community in a positive way." As a new member of the Chamber, Maddie is eager to connect with fellow business owners, access valuable resources, and contribute to initiatives that promote local growth and prosperity. She is particularly excited about the opportunity to engage with Chamber members who may be interested in supporting her annual "Spreading Warmth Frederick" initiative. This winter, Maddie will be collecting hats, gloves, and scarves to donate to those in need within Frederick County. “We couldn’t be more excited to have Shirt Pun, and especially Maddie, as our first youth entrepreneur member!” said Chamber President & CEO, Rick Weldon. “Maddie’s entrepreneurial spirit is truly inspiring, and we look forward to supporting her journey and the contributions she will make to our community.
