At Fred Smith Company, we successfully transformed the Sutton Lake access road adjacent to Duke Energy Sutton Steam Plant in Wilmington. We contracted with Duke Energy to fine grade and pave this existing gravel road to provide a safe and dust free access for local fishermen to access Sutton Lake. Furthermore the asphalt will limit the risk of damage to boats and vehicles travelling this road. Our team responded efficiently, completing the 28,000 SY for fine grading and paving in 7 days, turning it into a smooth, reliable surface. A huge thank you to our dedicated team for their hard work and expertise in making this project a success.

Fares began his journey with us in 2020 as an Excavator Operator, quickly showcasing his talent and dedication. We are thrilled to announce the promotions of four outstanding team members who have shown exceptional dedication and growth within our Commercial Division. Dylan Knode has been promoted from Project Engineer to Assistant Project Manager. Dylan, who joined us in July 2019, started as a field engineer and rose through the ranks to foreman, project engineer, and now Assistant Project Manager. Congratulations, Dylan! River Corbett has been promoted from Project Engineer to Assistant Project Manager. Since joining Fred Smith in January 2020, River has excelled as a field engineer and project engineer before stepping into this new role. Well done, River! Justin Stewart is now our Senior Project Manager! Since starting with us in May 2014 as a project engineer, Justin has advanced to Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, and now takes on this senior role. Kudos to Justin! Jason Tarkington has also been promoted to Senior Project Manager. Beginning his journey with us in February 2014 as a Pipe Layer Helper, Jason has progressed through various roles, including Cost Engineer, Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, and Project Manager.
