关于我们
Fraunhofer IWES secures investments in technological developments through validation, shortens innovation cycles, accelerates certification procedures, and increases planning accuracy by means of innovative measurement methods in the wind energy and hydrogen technology sectors. At present, there are more than 300 scientists and employees as well as more than 100 students employed at the nine sites: Bochum, Bremen, Bremerhaven, G?rlitz, Hamburg, Hannover, Leer, Leuna, and Oldenburg. Its operating budget in 2023 was €46.6 million. Extensive funding policy support has made it possible to set up unique test benches, for example for rotor blades, drive trains and support structures, bearings, and main shafts as well as a measurement infrastructure and laboratories since the institute’s foundation in 2009. In addition, Fraunhofer IWES systematically researches the interaction of wind energy and hydrogen production, reconversion, and grid integration as well as generating extensive synergies. The test portfolio was developed in close cooperation with leading industrial players, who have also accompanied the development of the test methods and processes right from the design stage. The combination of a globally unique testing infrastructure with methods expertise distinguishes the IWES as a research partner for companies all over the world. Participation in international expert committees makes the institute an active trailblazer for technological developments and quality assurance in the wind industry. #??????????????????????: ?????????????? ?????????????? ?????????????? ???????????????? ???? ?????????????????? The meeting of the Horizon Europe project AGISTIN - Advanced Grid Interface for Innovative Storage Integration - marked almost the halfway point of the project duration. The simulative work has been completed studying the impact of the integration of energy storages on #renewableenergies and electrolyzers. The next step is to test the components in a hardware-in-the-loop setup at Fraunhofer IWES to verify the simulation studies. Our goal is to improve the integration of electrolyzers in #greenhydrogen plants and ensure a stable operation of the grid. More info ?? #research AGISTIN (Horizon Europe project)

?? ?????????????? ??????: ?????????? ?????????? ??????????????????????? ???? ?? ???????? ?????????? ???????????????????? ?????????????????? ?????????????? ???? ?????????????????? ?????????????????? ???????? ?????????? ????????????????????” Have a look at the paper published by our colleagues Matthias Huhn and Julia Gottschall together with Paul Meyer.? They introduce a framework for the validation of aeroelastic models used for load calculation for #windturbines. For this, they developed the normalized area metric as an objective, quantifiable validation metric that considers the entire statistical distribution of model and benchmark results. This enables the comparison of model accuracy between sensors of different physical units as well as between models of different turbines. The framework was applied to test cases that evaluate synthetic turbulent wind fields. Using measurement #data from the Bremerhaven test site, they were able to show how uncertainties in wind fields can be taken into account and specifically analyzed. The proposed framework and #validation metric provide a sound basis for wind turbine load model validations.? To the paper ?? https://lnkd.in/eVt9PSZN? ? #windenergy #research ?

?? ???????????????? ?????????????????? ???? ???????????????????? ?????????????? Science thrives on making new connections and thinking outside the box. This is also reflected in our everyday work: Our colleague Timo Schauties from the Software Development Group spent a day working in the field of rotor blades. Together with Florian Schmidt and Frank Gottschling, he produced a rotor blade segment in our BladeMaker demo center. The hands-on involvement with the production process was ideal for furthering his understanding of the challenges involved in #rotorblade production. Timo contributes this knowledge to the SmartRoMaIn project. There, the Software Development Group is supporting the scientists in developing a networked measurement system that makes it possible to detect and rectify construction deviations at an early stage. The aim is to develop software that makes it possible to plan and control process chains consisting of combined manufacturing and testing processes. The work visit contributed significantly to laying the foundations for a successful software solution and was also a lot of fun for everyone involved. ?
