How is franchising addressing labor challenges? Franchisees are taking a multi-pronged approach-- according to the International Franchise Association/FRANdata 2025 Franchisor Survey, franchisors expect their franchisees to focus on wage increases (66%) and boosting efficiency (64%). Notably, Personal Services brands are leading the charge, with 50% expecting to adjust wages. Additionally, 38% of franchise executives anticipate changes in employee scheduling, often leveraging technology and flexible work models. While labor markets are showing signs of improvement, the availability of qualified candidates remains the primary challenge for franchisees. Findings from the International Franchise Association/FRANdata annual franchisor survey, show 48% of franchisors cite this as the top concern—especially pronounced in Health & Fitness brands (55%). Close behind, 39% of franchisors are contending with escalating wage and benefits demands. Understanding these hiring dynamics is crucial. The Changing Landscape of SBA Lending was an apropos title for the session at the Southeastern Small Business Lender's Conference. There is so much that is expected to change in SBA policy with the new administration and there is change afoot in franchising.
