As I reflect on the 2nd edition of the Francophone Africa Business?Summit that took place a few weeks ago, I am filled with deep gratitude for everyone who made it possible—from our amazing sponsors and partners to our incredible speakers and guests. #FABS2025 was a success thanks to the new and renewed support. I am especially grateful to those who trusted us and traveled to Nigeria for the first time to be part of this experience. I’ll never forget what a friend told me when I first moved to Lagos in 2019: “Lagos is one of Africa’s best-kept secrets.” 6 years later, I couldn’t agree more. Seeing both Africans and non-Africans discover the city and the wealth of business opportunities it offers reinforces the FABS mission—collaboration across Africa holds limitless potential. Beyond the joy of witnessing FABS thrive in its second year and the meaningful connections formed, the stories shared by our panelists and audience underscored a powerful truth—there is still so much ground to cover in strengthening business collaboration across Africa. The urgency is clear and the possibilities are huge. With this in mind, we decided to extend our impact beyond the annual summit by creating a platform for business insights and exchanges, designed for those genuinely committed to doing more business across Africa. Stay tuned—exciting updates are on the way! The journey ahead is exciting, and I look forward to seeing how we all play a role in unlocking Africa’s full potential together.

https://lnkd.in/d6P9dVxd This week, I had a sit-down with GEORGES MAGLOIRE FOALENG FOKAM in Ikeja, after his time at the Francophone Africa Business?Summit. It was quite an insightful conversation where I got real time insight into the business space in Francophone Africa. What stood out for me was the existing gap for Nigerian financial and non-financial institutions in CEMAC, most especially... Cameroon is the largest economy in CEMAC, it's also Nigeria's largest source of diaspora remittances in Africa... Georges is a senior banking expert in Cameroon, worked with the Bank of Central African States (BEAC), and is a reputable figure on the subject of banking in CEMAC (Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa). On a lighter note, I was able to test my conversational skills in French ??... Bonne lis

"Is Africa's digitization opportunity overhyped?" That's one of the questions I asked the panel at the Francophone Africa Business Summit in Lagos yesterday. Cybastion Founder Thierry Wandji Ketchiozo, Maviance PLC Founder Jerry Cheambe, and P1 Ventures GP M. Mikael Hajjar shared compelling insights on this and other questions. The panel focused broadly on the collision of digital transformation and fintech in Africa — here are a few themes we explored: ? Fintech continues to attract significant investor attention (60% of all equity invested in African startups last year). Why is that? Because the sector is foundational to Africa’s digital transformation story. ? ?Digital services can’t proliferate without reliable and accessible means to pay for them. And payments is a great example of how digital transformation requires building complex, 'invisible infrastructure' first. The consumer-facing solutions we celebrate are just the tip of the iceberg. ? There's often active resistance to digitization from stakeholders who profit from the status quo. We should always keep in mind that digital transformation is as much about managing people and interests as it is about technology. ? Talent retention is a unique challenge for innovation-driven enterprises. Cameroon offers a strong example of this as being both Anglophone and Francophone means losing talent to both English-speaking countries like the US and the UK and French-speaking countries like France and Canada. ? Success stories — like a case study we discussed of how the digitization of a leading hospital in Burkina Faso resulted in 3x revenue growth — show what's possible when these challenges are overcome. Many thanks to Thierry, Jerry, and Mikael for a great discussion. ???? And thanks also to Johanna Monthé and the Francophone Africa Business?Summit team for creating a formidable new forum to bridge divides between Anglophone and Francophone #Africa and forge new connections to unlock opportunities beyond borders. ?? P.S. We ran out of time, so here's a question I didn't get to ask the panel: ?????????????? ?????????? ???? 2030, ????????'?? ?????? ???????? ???????????????????? ?????????? ?????????????? ???? ?????????????????????? ???? ???????????????????? ???????????? ??????'?? ???????? ???????? ???????? ???????????? ?????????? ???????????????? ???????? ??????????? What do you think? Let me know in the comments ??
