???????? Fostering academic collaborations is a key mission for us. Recently, we had the pleasure of visiting University of Arizona, Arizona State University, #MCCCD (Maricopa County Community Colleges District) and The University of New Mexico to spotlight our mobility programs supported by the Embassy of France in the United States. These initiatives are designed to forge lasting partnerships between both countries, fostering research and innovation across all levels of #STEM and #SSH studies. From undergrads participating in the #GilmanScholarshipProgram and #Bootcamp to graduate students benefiting from #FranceExcellenceGraduateScholars, Fulbright France, #Chateaubriand, #FADEx, and the #TransatlanticResearchPartnership, we're excited to inspire the next generation of scholars! It was particularly inspiring to hear the stories of former #Chateaubriand laureates who completed part of their PhD research in France — a testament to the impact of these opportunities. A big thank you to the dedicated researchers who gave us a behind-the-scenes look at their labs — we're excited for the collaborations to come! ? ??Want to learn more about these programs? Last week we had the privilege of attending a fascinating presentation by Professor Guy Bertrand, a renowned figure in the world of chemistry. His journey in research is remarkable: from his PhD at the Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III (France) in 1979 to becoming the Director of multiple prestigious research laboratories, including the CNRS Joint Research Chemistry Laboratory that he created with University of California, Riverside (2001-2012) and UC San Diego (2012-present). Professor Guy Bertrand is famously known for his groundbreaking work on stable carbenes, a discovery with a profound impact on both fundamental and applied chemistry. In recognition of his achievements, he was named Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur in 2013, France's highest distinction, awarded to those who elevate the nation's influence and prestige. His recognition as the 2024 George A. Olah Lecture speaker at the University of Southern California adds another milestone to his distinguished career. Among the previous 21 honorees since 1996 are six Nobel laureates and four Wolf Prize recipients, cementing this lecture as one of the most prestigious in the field. A huge congratulations to Professor Bertrand for this well-deserved honor! Embassy of France in the United States | Guy Bertrand | UCSD | G.K.
