Last week, Villa Albertine, the French Institute for Culture and Education in Houston, had the pleasure of welcoming artist and author Vickie Fremont! Vickie Frémont, a Franco-Cameroonian artist and anthropologist, gave workshops in Houston at Mark White Elementary and The Awty International School, and in Arlington at Wimbish World Language Academy. Author of Colibri – The Hummingbird Project and founder of the NGO My Hands My Tools, Vickie focuses on transforming discarded materials into useful everyday objects through her creative workshops. During these workshops, students learned how to create daily items and jewelry from recycled materials, explored their own identities through the creation of masks and drawings, and reflected on the significance of their first names. We want to thank Vickie Frémont again for sharing her creativity, vision, and passion with students across Texas! We also thank: Isabelle Williams (Wimbish World Language Academy) Eric Whitten, M.Ed (Mark White Elementary) Severine Ireland (Awty International School)

Yesterday, Villa Albertine, the French Institute for Culture and Education participated in a Francophone Career Expo organized by Dallas College. Juliette Richoux (Villa Albertine in Houston) and Stanislas Riener, the new education expert from Expertise France in Houston, were invited to provide students with guidance on building international career skills. During this event, we highlighted opportunities for studying in France, including programs such as TAPIF - Teaching Assistant Program in France - USA , the Community College in France Program, and studying abroad with Campus France. This was an excellent occasion to engage directly with students, answer their questions, and emphasize the impact of bilingualism in today’s world. Speaking French can be a significant career advantage, particularly in #Texas, where dozens of French companies have established a presence. In an increasingly interconnected and rapidly changing world, bilingualism is a valuable asset that opens doors to diverse and rewarding opportunities! We want to thank Edit Dibra and Hasmik Gharaghazaryan for organizing this event, the Ambassade de France aux Etats-Unis for its support, and Emeline Colson (Alliance Fran?aise de Dallas) and Erin McKelvey (EACC Texas - European American Chamber of Commerce Texas) for their presence and valuable contribution. This event would not have been possible without every single one of you!
