Meet Heather Smith, whose dedication and expertise played a crucial role in the development of the FPL Miami-Dade Clean Water Recovery Center (CWRC). Thanks to Heather and her team's meticulous efforts in environmental science and operations, this one-of-a-kind facility is now treating and reusing up to 15 million gallons of reclaimed water daily to cool a natural gas plant. Heather’s commitment has been instrumental in transforming wastewater into a valuable resource, conserving Florida’s groundwater. STEM careers are shaping the future, and since 2021, we’ve awarded scholarships to 34 students in our communities, helping them pursue their passion in these fields. This year, up to 10 more graduating high school seniors with at least one year of experience in SECME (Science, Engineering, Communication, Mathematics, and Enrichment) will have the chance to receive support for their college journey. ??
