We’re grateful for our partnership with Alan Flota and this initiative made possible by New York Life to support grieving kids and the teachers and administrators who walk with them every day. One in 12 kids will experience the death of a parent or sibling by the time they turn 18. We all need to show up for them. #givehope #griefsupport #wearehereforyou #yourgriefcompanions #fvhh
Agent with New York Life helping clients custom tailor solutions to estate conservation, retirement planning, college funding, insurance protection, and other personal or business insurance needs
I recently had the honor of presenting The Impact of Grief on Students at the Elevated Expo held at Community Unit School District 308. Great conversation and insights with SD308 educators around creating more supportive environments and strengthening connections with students who have suffered a loss. Thank you to Cassie at Fox Valley Hands of Hope for working with me on this initiative. #griefsupport

We are honored to be part of these initiatives by developing support groups for people who are grieving a death due to substance use and overdose. We hope the prevention efforts are incredibly successful and that we'd never be needed, but unfortunately that's not always the case, even with the best efforts. When grief enters your life, we're here for you. #griefsupport #wearehereforyou #overdose #deathloss #grief #hope
Thank you to all who attended the Kane County Opioid Task Force Meeting, and to the North Aurora Police Department who provided the venue for discussions on overdose prevention in Kane County. The Task Force is comprised of representatives from 60 organizations across Kane County working to reduce opioid-related overdoses, expand access to treatment, and promote evidence-based strategies to support individuals and families affected by substance use disorder. Attendees learned about various programs across the county, with highlights from the Kane County Coroner's Office, VNA Health Care, Fox Valley Hands of Hope and Ecker Center for Behavioral Health. Updates from the Kane County Health Department included: - New map of over 100 locations in Kane County where the public can pick up naloxone for free and without a prescription or ID: https://lnkd.in/gZduuh6E - New Brief Tobacco and Vaping Intervention Training for those working with clients who vape or use tobacco: https://lnkd.in/g6QN_r6p - New Overdose Fatality Review Progam: https://lnkd.in/gj7DqFc6 - New Buprenorphine training for healthcare providers: https://lnkd.in/gDbM4VAe - New self-help website for mental health and substance use support, Behavioral Health 360: https://lnkd.in/gSZdMdX8 - Violence prevention program and free gun trigger locks for Kane County firearm owners: https://lnkd.in/g82Xzx4H And...we even had a visit from Chance and Charm, Elgin IL Police Department's therapy dogs. ?? #ThrowbackThursday to?Fox Valley Hands of Hope's art event, Endeavor?and our Best of Show winner,?Cherylyn Gnadt?for "Passing Through." We're sharing the piece in honor of "The Day of the Dead," (Dia de los Muertos) a Mexican holiday that combines the ancient Aztec tradition of celebrating, honoring, and welcoming our ancestors. This linocut relief represents the transition of the Year of the Dragon 2024 and the eternal cycle of holding on and letting go. Each new situation gives fire to the next, even while holding on to the past. Cherylyn describes the inspiration for her creation. "Like most of my work, this piece has personal meaning. My father passed away in early December 2023. As I held his hand for one last meditative farewell, I opened my eyes to witness a fox trotting through the backyard of my parent’s suburban home. In February, my father’s birth month, I went on an adventure and honored him in Oaxaca, MX. The repeating spiral motif and interconnecting shapes witnessed in the art and textiles of the region inspired this transformative work that represents the eternal cycle of destruction and rebirth. Congratulations,?Cherylyn Gnadt and thank you for sharing your talents and transformative experience. Thanks also to judges?Sue McDowell, Ana Vitek, and Cheri Hunt?for their contributions to our event.
