Thank you Chris Stokel-Walker for this great piece in Inc. Magazine about what makes our energy storage system so uniquely suited to both solve today's grid challenges and address climate change. #thermalbattery #decarbonizedgrid #energytransition #energystorage https://lnkd.in/euNATPB6
关于我们
Fourth Power is a thermal battery energy storage company. Our technology makes renewable energy an on-demand energy source through utility-scale thermal storage. We can harness today’s wasted wind and solar production to respond to grid needs at a cost competitive with fossil fuels. Our modular battery can provide 5 to 10 hours of storage to meet needs now and scale with renewable deployment for needs up to 100 hours and any increment in between. With the ability to provide short- and long-duration energy storage (LDES), we can start small and grow with the grid to save consumers money and ensure a clean energy future.

Today marks the launch of the Thermal Battery Alliance, a first-of-a-kind industry coalition committed to deploying thermal battery technologies to transform the power and industrial sectors. Fourth Power is proud to be a founding member of this strategic alliance alongside Antora Energy, Electrified Thermal Solutions, RedoxBlox and Rondo Energy. Thermal batteries are a breakthrough American technology that increase the competitiveness of the U.S. industrial manufacturing base and bolster the country’s grid reliability while lowering energy costs. Thermal batteries charge with cheap, off-peak clean power and store that intermittent energy as heat. This heat can be delivered around-the-clock to drive industrial operations, or - in Fourth Power's case - converted on-demand into electricity to meet grid demand. The Thermal Battery Alliance is committed to spotlighting how American innovation can unlock a competitive and clean domestic manufacturing sector, create well-paying jobs, and reduce costs for U.S. energy consumers. Podcast alert! Great discussion between our CEO, Arvin Ganesan and MCJ's Cody Simms. Thank you to Cody and the Inevitable team. Listen to the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/eUuaPEzd
Our next guest is developing a flexible-duration thermal energy system designed to meet the needs of an electrical grid increasingly powered by renewables. Fourth Power's system uses liquid tin to store heat in carbon blocks, which can then be converted back to electricity on demand via thermal photovoltaics.?CEO Arvin Ganesan explains how the technology is designed to address short-duration energy storage (5–10 hours) and long-duration needs (100+ hours), with the ability to discharge power in seconds. Cody and Arvin discuss his career journey, the potential of Fourth Power’s approach to energy storage, and the broader implications for a grid that increasingly relies on renewable sources. ?? We are thrilled to share the news that two exceptional leaders Fred Huang (former Rivian, Plenty and Tesla) and Patrick Schweiger (former Commonwealth Fusion Systems, TerraPower and Fluor) have recently joined the Executive Leadership Team at Fourth Power. Fred will build and oversee our project execution engine as EVP, Operations, and Pat will head engineering as EVP, Engineering. They bring decades of leadership experience and expertise in building highly effective teams and delivering complex projects safely and efficiently. As Pat put it on his first day, "Let's go build a battery!" Go Fourth! https://lnkd.in/dweGV8fv

Wrapping up the year with a great piece from CNBC on "Why thermal batteries could replace lithium-ion batteries for energy storage", featuring our Founder and CTO, Asegun Henry. Here, Ase explains how thermal batteries have the potential to serve a range of needs on the grid. Thank you Lisa S. for featuring Fourth Power in this story! Thanks for the chance to share more about what we are building to the Green Building Advisor network, Justin R. Wolf! Its a privilege to share the page with such great company as Carbon Upcycling Technologies and Nth Cycle.
While I'd love to be subway-hopping and hobnobbing with friends and colleagues for #ClimateWeek in NYC, alas, I'm holed up at my favorite coffee house in Maine, liking others' LinkedIn posts and enduring the usual FOMO. But here's my modest contribution to this important week. In Green Building Advisor, I had the pleasure of speaking with leaders of three noteworthy climate-tech startups, all recognized as part of World Economic Forum's 2024 #TechnologyPioneers cohort. ?? Fourth Power is developing tech for large, cost-effective thermal batteries that can store up to 100 megawatts of energy, which could prove critical for America's transition to a renewable and efficient grid. ?? Carbon Upcycling Technologies is establishing a waste-to-value supply chain for the purposes of creating more sustainable feedstocks for the cement industry. ?? Nth Cycle a metal refining company with a mission to put as much production-grade metal as possible—from industrial scrap, end-of-life batteries, low-grade ore, and refining waste—into the supply chain and keep it in circulation indefinitely. My thanks to Arvin Ganesan, Apoorv Sinha, Megan O'Connor, Michelle Mormont, Jamie Corter, Emily Torrans, Dante Luu, RN, Matias Lindemann #climatetech #greeneconomy #lowcarboneconomy #lowcarbonfuture #greencement #greenconcrete #wastetovalue #metalrefining #cradletocradle #climatechange https://lnkd.in/eqXdgfNV

Thanks to Andrew King and CNET for a great conversation with our CEO Arvin Ganesan earlier this summer, and an insightful article on when and how the cost saving benefits of renewable energy will be reflected in consumer's power bills. "One out of five people can't afford to pay their electricity bill in the United States, so to have the solution fall exclusively on their shoulders is not fair, especially when governments and utilities are much better poised to deliver the solutions."? https://lnkd.in/dUZA8miN

Our team was thrilled to take part in the Breakthrough Energy #BESummit last week. Despite an exhausting schedule, we left London energized to tackle our generation’s greatest challenge — #climatechange — by decarbonizing the grid using #thermalbatteries to store energy for long durations #LDES. ? A particular highlight was being featured in the Summit’s Innovation Showcase. Arvin Ganesan and Christina Belsito spoke with hundreds of people — investors, corporates, policymakers, and Breakthrough Energy’s own founder, Bill Gates — about Fourth Power.? ? Armed with wisdom from those who have forged the first-of-a-kind (#FOAK) path ahead of us, it’s time to get back to work. #GoFourth ? #renewableenergy #decarbonizedgrid #energytransition #energyisprosperity
