We had the honor of hosting Charles Gaddy, co-founder of Global Data Consortium (GDC) and founder of Four Light Ventures (4LV), as the first guest speaker in our Entrepreneurial Finance course at Duke University. As both an exited founder and startup investor, Charles shared invaluable insights that captivated the class. His session was packed with wisdom, including: → The difference between zebras vs. unicorns—and why it matters for entrepreneurs. → The art of building teams that drive long-term success. → Why "boring businesses" can be the most profitable. → And perhaps most importantly, a critical reminder for founders to maintain perspective. We didn’t get through all the questions before time ran out, so perhaps we’ll see him again later this semester to continue the conversation.
