This summer, FDDC proudly awarded grants to 16 talented Wabanaki artisans through our Artisan Grant Fund Program! Today's featured awardee is Cricket Griffith, who crafts handmade pottery. Visit their shop, The Muddy Cricket, to explore their work. "I want to teach our youth about creating lasting vessels and art from the earth. Pottery from our people, some dating back 3,000 years, challenges the belief that nomadic cultures couldn't use pottery. I aim to capture in clay the beauty of nature that has sustained us—fiddleheads, butterflies, and the northern lights. Nature is our enduring inspiration." - Cricket Griffith Thanks to the @Maine Arts Commission, @Allagash Brewing Company, and @Coffee by Design for their generous support. #WabanakiArt #NativeArtisans
