Phoenix is hot!!! ?? Talking about the startup scene there not the weather!!! Founders N' Funders hosted our VC Reverse Pitch Event in Phoenix last night and had a packed house at the beautiful new Kiln location in Gilbert. Thank you to the fantastic VCs who presented and shared their insights with all the startup founders in attendance. Phoenix is an emerging venture ecosystem with all the right things coming together at the right time. Huge talent pool from top Universities like Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University. ASU is the largest university in the US and produces a ton of tech talent. Arizona is a business-friendly state with excellent startup resources and support organizations like Arizona Commerce Authority and yesPHX, etc. There is a ton of wealth in AZ, largely coming from Real Estate. So, investment diversification is needed and new VC funds are emerging and venture capital talent is being attracted. Phoenix was recently ranked in the Top 20 cities for the last 12 months fothe number of early-stage VC investments. We were excited to personally experience the excitement and optimism of the founders and venture capital investors in this emerging startup ecosystem! The future is bright and the momentum is strong for startups in PHX! Top US Cities to Raise SAFEs & Convertible Notes of $1M or less The top 4 cities (SF, NYC, LA & Boston) accounted for over 60% of these convertible rounds based on 4k+ rounds done on Carta over the past 12 months. Austin, Miami, Washington D.C., Chicago, Seattle and Denver round out the Top 10. #10 Denver-Boulder (84) had double the number of these early-stage rounds compared to #15 SLC-Provo (42), which is interesting. Shoutout to #19 Phoenix for making the Top 20. I'm excited that Founders N' Funders is doing an event there this week! Any cities on here that surprise you in regards to early-stage startup activity? Any emerging cities not on the list that might make the list in the coming 12 months? ?? Another interesting note: ?
