MiSalud recently sat down with Amy Taylor, Head of Wellness at Taylor Farms, to discuss supporting mental health for Latino agricultural workers. Some key takeaways: ???? Mental health needs among Latino farmworkers are both common and complex. ?? 11 years of learnings from Taylor Farms’ wellness programs reinforce the need to build trust and listen to what employees are asking for, rather than imposing resources on them. ?? Mental health can show up at work as a physical symptom, like headache or muscle pain, and as personality issues. These have direct and measurable impacts on personnel issues, productivity and health costs. ?? The prevalence of grief prompted MiSalud to start special grief programs in collaboration with our thanatologist, who studies the impact of loss and bereavement. Thank you to AGRICULTURAL PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION and California Farm Labor Contractor Association for bringing this important topic to members. If you’re interested in bringing same-day mental and physical health support to your Latino essential workers, please reach out to MiSalud. https://lnkd.in/guz5XMFH

Last year, we got into YC and raised $3m. But when we launched VectorShift, we only got 3 signups. No one cared. People often think that raising money and getting into a prestigious accelerator are the hallmarks of success as a founder. It is far from it. There are millions of tactical steps in between. This past year: I did sales I did customer support I did marketing I did interviewing I did product QA I did client deployments I did legal and compliance I did bookkeeping And more Many people think being a founder is about raising money, setting the high-level strategy, and giving the team instructions from an ivory tower. The reality is doing whatever it takes for the customer to have a better experience and to solve their pain points. 10+ launches later (and many more failed ones), we now have thousands of paying customers and tens of thousands of users. There are still millions of more steps left, but we are excited to continue on this journey with our customers.

Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky's priceless advice for all founders & entrepreneurs: “We [Airbnb co-founders] had a rule. The rule was that winning an argument was never more important than preserving the relationship. And the reason that's important is because if you start a company, you're going to have to debate a hundred thousand things... so no one argument can be the thing. There has to be this larger sense that we're a band.” Co-founder misalignment is probably 70-80% of what kills startups before they even find product-market fit. What do you think? Comment below ?? FOUNDERS: steal my pitch deck template: 1. Mission = authentic, ambitious, polarizing 2. Why Now = what in the outside world changed to make your startup possible 3. Market Size = bottoms up price * quantity, no top down estimates pulled from research reports 4. Problem = customer pain independent of your solution 5. Solution = how your product solves that pain 6. Differentiation = why are you unique relative to alternatives 7. Traction = what you’ve accomplished thus far 8. Pipeline = what you will accomplish in the next 18-24 months 9. Testimonials = social proof from customers, users, partners 10. Team = can move this to the front if your team is spectacular 11. Risks = how you can fail and what you’re doing to prevent that 12. Ask = how much $ you’re raising to hit what goal(s) Keep your pitch deck to 10-15 slides max. Your deck should be short, sweet, and to the point. DO NOT fill your deck with too many words and facts. The goal is to pique an investor’s curiosity and excitement, while at the same time make them UNEASY because your condensed deck leaves them with LOTS of questions. The VC will feel uncomfortable about their lack of knowledge to back up their excitement, which will lead them to ask for the data room in order to REMOVE that discomfort. The goal of a pitch deck is NOT to convince a VC to invest. It’s only to get them to review the data room. Link:
