It’s been 7 weeks since Hurricane Helene struck – devastating the lives of so many across the Carolinas – and we are profoundly grateful to everyone who has contributed to the relief efforts so far. Special thanks to our generous fundholders who have made 351 grants to 123 organizations, totaling nearly $4.9M. But the journey isn’t over. Recovery takes time and every additional gift can help us make an even greater impact. Let’s continue to stand together and rebuild stronger.

Recently, our #FFTCFam and the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance team gathered at the Sullenberger Aviation Museum for an unforgettable experience. Survivor Pam Seagle shared her powerful story of resilience and purpose following the 'Miracle on the Hudson,' inspiring us all to cherish life’s moments and live with meaning.?
This week, the teams at the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance and Foundation For The Carolinas had a special opportunity to connect over stories of innovation, hope, and heroism at the Sullenberger Aviation Museum. CEOs Andrea Smith and Cathy Bessant hoped their teams would get to know one another a bit better. What they got was much more. Pam Seagle, one of the survivors of the 2009 plane crash dubbed the "Miracle on the Hudson," shared her firsthand harrowing tale of falling from the sky while New York City looked on. It was a moment that changed her entire perspective on life. "The hardest part was not having control," Seagle said. She braced for impact, fate uncertain. But, when the plane hit the water, Seagle looked around, and took back control. She jumped into the Hudson and started swimming. Seagle's life-altering experience led her to see things more clearly now -- little things, like sunsets; bigger things, like her career. Seagle now spends her days injecting meaning and purpose into her second chance, supporting Bank of America’s efforts to empower women around the globe. She reminded the group, you don't need a brush with death to do something special with your life. "I found my purpose," Seagle said. "Now, I listen to my instincts. I listen to my gut. I pay attention to the little things." Photos courtesy of Paul Fisher, Foundation For The Carolinas #Inspiration #CharlotteBusiness #SurvivorStories #SullenbergerMuseum

Recently, longtime FFTC partners Kelly Katterhagen and Tim Belk hosted an inspiring event at The Innovation Barn to spotlight The Conservation Fund and its Farms Fund initiative. Through a unique lease-to-own model, the Farms Fund is creating pathways for farmers in our region to achieve sustainable farmland ownership while preserving vital agricultural land for future generations.
