Improving Veterans health through medical research and education
关于我们
The Foundation for Atlanta Veterans Education and Research, Inc. (FAVER) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization associated with the Atlanta VA Health Care System. FAVER is dedicated to research and its associated educational and scientific endeavors. We complement the care of veterans by facilitating recruitment of the best minds in healthcare and enhancing the intellectual viability of the hospital to provide new and innovative treatments, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), dementia, and Gulf War Syndrome. In 1988 Congress passed Public Law 100-322 (forming a unique public/private partnership that dramatically broadened VA’s ability to benefit from private and non-VA public support, including academic institutions, government research organizations and private individuals and companies for research conducted at VA medical centers. In fulfilling its mission, FAVER recently has annually administered an average of 70 projects over the last three (3) years. These projects have resulted in an average revenue of over $10M annually for research conducted at the AVAMC. FAVER administers industry-sponsored research that aims to improve the care of Veterans. Through FAVER’s involvement in clinical trials conducted at the Atlanta VA, it is able to provide veterans with access to promising new treatments often not available outside the clinical trial setting.
