Foundation Communities would not be as successful as it is at reducing our greenhouse gas emissions without the support of people like Rep. Lloyd Doggett. For years our Congressman has been instrumental in helping us secure funding to install solar panels on our affordable apartment communities. He spoke at our sustainability event today. #affordability #affordablehousing #sustainability

Today we celebrated the progress Foundation Communities has made toward our commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions at our affordable housing communities and offices in Austin and North Texas by 50 percent over 10 years. Foundation Communities has already achieved more than 36 percent emissions reduction using solar panels and other initiatives. The commitment is part of our involvement in the US Department of Energy's Better Climate Challenge. We appreciate Rep. Lloyd Doggett and officials with the US Departments of Energy and Housing and Urban Development for recognizing our progress, and for joining us on a tour of our Homestead Oaks Apartments.

Bluebonnet Studios was packed with creativity and fun today at our Art & Wellness event. This annual event is a chance for some of the talented artists living in our supportive housing communities for single adults to show off and sell their works of art. It's organized by our Health Initiatives and Supportive Housing teams. These are photos of the resident artists and their art. We also set the stage for musical artists. Stay tuned to hear from them! #ArtandWellness #supportivehousing

On a recent visit to our Cardinal Point Learning Center, volunteer Mark Westphal taught the students how to make pesto. Not just any pesto... they used basil from the garden he helped them plant this spring, and pistachios instead of pine nuts. We need more Learning Center volunteers. And, as Mark is proving, it can be a blast. Sign up today at foundcom.org/volunteer.

We are grateful to Michael & Susan Dell Foundation for producing this video about our affordable housing plus services.
For over 30 years, Walter Moreau and the Foundation Communities team have been transforming affordable housing in Greater Austin—helping nearly 25,000 families find homes and access essential services every year.? ? Their innovative approach secures real estate in prime locations, ensuring residents live near jobs, schools, and medical facilities. And it goes beyond housing. With on-site classes, after-school programs, community events, and wellness initiatives, they create thriving neighborhoods where connections flourish, making Austin an even more vibrant and inclusive place to live.? ? #CommunityDevelopment #AffordableHousing ?

As a report from KVUE says, the high cost of food is taking a toll on Texas families. That's why our Health Initiatives team distributes more than 300,000 pounds of healthy food every year in food pantries all over Austin. You can watch the report at https://ow.ly/gEaZ50ThLUC #NationalFoodBankDay
