We’ve been highlighting the upside risk to inflation for some time now, so it was interesting to see sentiment shift at the The Australian Financial Review Banking Summit this week. Where banks had previously forecast significant rate cuts in 2025/26, the conversation is now turning to the possibility of an early end to the rate cut cycle. In this environment, our long-term fixed rate loans provide protection against the upside risk to interest rates and stability in uncertain times. #agriculture #finance #interestrates #inflation #riskmanagement #bankingsummit https://lnkd.in/gRTMZ6X8

Partnering your future. Specialist lender for farmers and agribusinesses
关于我们
We understand the unique financial challenges faced by farmers and agribusiness owners. Foundation Agri Finance grew from a belief that there was a better way to finance the evolving needs of farmers and agribusinesses. In a market dominated by the banks, agricultural lending has become short-term and less focused on the customer, and more on meeting regulatory needs. Our founders saw an opportunity for a new approach that starts with the customer and takes a longer-term view of structuring financial solutions to support your goals across the various cycles in agriculture. Our fixed-rate term loans are funded by global industry leader PGIM Real Estate; a business of PGIM, the global asset management business of Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE: PRU). These loans help farmers and agribusinesses invest for the long-term, with loan periods of up to 25 years.

An unconvincing RBA cut the cash rate for first time since November 2020, but what has that done to longer term rates? We examine movements across the yield curve post the cut and opportunities for borrowers. https://lnkd.in/gY_MEicv

The BlackRock CEO highlighted how 30-year fixed-rate mortgages have been a foundation for US growth. They build confidence and certainty as borrowers don't have to worry about the ups and downs of mortgage payments. We share Larry Fink's view and are offering these long-term, fixed-rate loans to Aussie farmers. https://lnkd.in/gpPD5T2w

Annual review and planning session in Western Australia. Positive sentiment across the board after another strong winter crop - impressive given well below average rainfall for most. Now, the task of moving plenty of grain through the system! The team was on-farm in WA last week and impressed by the drive to improve the way they farm and manage their business.

As we shake off the holiday dust and dive into 2025, it’s clear that farmers and agribusinesses are facing an evolving financial landscape. Here are four key themes to watch: ?? Inflation Sticks Around While commodity prices may rise, input costs are rising even faster. Over the past decade, grain farmers saw input costs jump 139%, while commodity prices only grew 35%. With inflation still above 3%, keeping a close eye on costs is critical to maintaining profitability. ?? Interest Rates Stay Higher for Longer Hoping for a quick RBA rate cut? Think again. Inflation, wage growth, and a weak Australian dollar make rate relief unlikely in the short term. The inverted yield curve suggests medium-term fixed rates could offer cost savings and peace of mind in an uncertain rate environment. ?? Banks Are Outsourcing Relationship Management With regional branch closures and high account manager turnover, farmers are turning to non-bank lenders and agri-brokers for financing solutions. The big banks’ share of agri-lending has dropped from 97% to 93%, and this trend is set to continue. ?? A Patchy 2025 for Rural Property The farmland market is shifting, with some regions likely to see softening land values due to seasonal and commodity pressures. For well-capitalized buyers, this could mean opportunities for expansion amid financial stress. ?? The Key Takeaway? Uncertainty is part of the game, but preparation is everything. Managing costs, securing competitive financing, and staying flexible will be key to navigating 2025. #Agriculture #Finance #Farming #AgriBusiness #Inflation #InterestRates https://lnkd.in/gxYyYiSP
