Here's a sneak peek: DO: -Offer lean protein like turkey (skip the skin!) -Share small portions of veggies like green beans or sweet potato (no onions, garlic, or grapes!) This Thanksgiving week, we're grateful for our incredible community that continues to come together for our Better Neighbor Project. Join us as we recap our recent event in Encino, CA, hosted in partnership with Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel and Councilmember Imelda Padilla. Hundreds of pet families enjoyed a day filled with free resources, including: -Free hygiene and wellness services for over 450 pets -500 lbs of pet food distributed -117 microchips registered -42 spay and neuter surgeries performed -5 lucky dogs found their forever homes, including one with our special guest, Councilmember Imelda Padilla! We couldn't have made this event a success without the dedication of our amazing volunteers, staff, and partners. Together, we're making a difference in the lives of animals and their families. To showcase the animals at their Chesterfield Square/South LA shelter and to encourage the community to adopt or foster, LA Animal Services will be partnering with the?Los Angeles Chargers?for a Petpalooza adoption event happening on Saturday, December 7 from 9am-4pm. Adoption fees will be waived for dogs and cats (adopted at the event and at any of their six City shelters on December 7th and 8th) thanks to a generous grant from?Petco Love. The team from?Dogs Playing for Life?will be onsite throughout the day to run playgroups that will showcase the personalities of our adoptable dogs, and Michelson Found Animals?will provide free dog tags, collars, and leashes while registering microchips for pets adopted at the event. Many "pet-friendly" policies hide hidden fees and breed restrictions that make finding a home for your furry family member tough. Michelson Found Animals' Pet-Inclusive Housing Initiative (PIHI) wants to change that! We believe in creating inclusive communities where pets are welcome without unnecessary limitations. Here's why pet-inclusive is better than pet-friendly: - No breed restrictions: Breed stereotypes shouldn't dictate policy. - Reasonable pet fees: Affordable fees that reflect responsible pet ownership. - Pet amenities: Dog washing stations, waste stations, and more! The Found Animals team had a wonderful time this week at The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement's conference in New Orleans! Nawlins treated them to inspiring speakers and sessions about increasing access to pet care. They made fantastic connections with other animal welfare organizations and even got to tour the incredible Louisiana SPCA. Just look at those adoptable cuties! The dedication and passion of AAWA and the Louisiana SPCA were truly inspiring. We're so grateful for all the dedicated organizations working tirelessly to help animals in need.
