Recently, I worked on a mobile marketing strategy for a local retailer struggling to engage their customers online. The initial step was to analyze their current website, which was not optimized for mobile devices. This created a frustrating user experience and led to high bounce rates. After recognizing the issue, we decided to prioritize website optimization, making it mobile-friendly, fast, and visually appealing. We also incorporated QR codes to enhance in-store experiences, allowing customers to easily access product information. The outcome was definitely a mixed bag. On the positive side, we saw a significant increase in website traffic and average session durations, showing that users were spending more time browsing. However, conversion rates didn't rise as expected because we lacked engaging mobile ads that tied in with the new mobile site. In hindsight, a more integrated approach with concise, humor-infused ads could have captured attention better. Engaging directly with customers through SMS campaigns might have facilitated a smoother transition and kept the audience informed.
