At Foster Forward, we know real change doesn’t always come from big gestures—it often starts with small acts of love, care, and connection. One of our staff recently shared this story of delivering a Colombian care package to a young person experiencing homelessness. It was a reminder that meeting people where they are can be the first step toward helping them move forward. This is what our work looks like—radical compassion, everyday impact. As we approach 401Gives on April 1–2, we’re calling on our community to help us continue this work. Whether it’s emergency housing support, job training, or simply sharing a warm meal that brings someone back to themselves—your donation matters. ?? Ready to help? Become a peer fundraiser or mark your calendar to donate at fosterforward.net/401gives. Every dollar helps us meet youth where they are—and walk beside them toward something better. #401Gives #FosterForward #RadicalCompassion #LeadingWithLove #SupportFosterYouth
I have a youth who has been unhoused living in a tent. He’s Colombian and hasn’t had ANY Colombian food in over 6 months.? im from CF, so I know just how important and sacred culture is to Colombians. I may not be able to “save” every client from their troubles but that isn’t my goal.? I dont come into this work expecting to save people. I come into this work to meet people where they’re at and show them new ways of thinking, being, and choosing.? I went to La Casona this morning and got empanadas, pan de quesos, bunuelos…a Colombian care package lol? you should have seen the smile on his face when I gave the food to him. He also saved some for his friend ?? imagine being away from your moms cooking, your own kitchen, your routines, your culture…just one taste of kindness could inspire a hunger for change. I believe people transform when they are cared for and loved and not shamed.? #leadingwithlove?#radicalcompassion?#service

? Collaboration Spotlight: Foster Forward x Bryant University! ? This semester, we’ve been thrilled to partner with students from a Bryant University Gen Ed Capstone class focused on addressing housing insecurity. The class has spent time learning about Foster Forward’s programs and mission, including a recent visit to our Community Storefront in Pawtucket! We’re so excited to receive their insights, creative ideas, and valuable feedback—helping us continue to innovate and strengthen our support for youth impacted by foster care. Thank you, Bryant University, for being amazing collaborators! ?? #CommunityPartnership #BryantUniversity #FosterForward #Innovation #HousingInsecurity
This week, Bryant University students in the Gen Ed capstone got an inside look at the storefront that our nonprofit partner #FosterForward operates in #Pawtucket with the help of one part- time staff member and many dedicated volunteers. Nestled in a busy strip mall between an ocean state job, teenage clothingstores, and a liquor store, stands a meticulously organized store full of donated items. Twice a week, foster families can freely shop for clothes, toys, toiletries, toys (thanks to Hasbro) and more. A big thank you to Allison DeGerlia, Marketing and Communications head at Foster Forward for showing us around and explaining the foundations of #ethicalstorytelling. Going forward, different student teams will tackle challenges of mentorship, workplace training, financial literacy and stable housing for #foster youth aging out of the system in #Rhodeisland. Next step will be gearing up for #401Gives, which takes place statewide on 1 April!

? Fashion, Music & Giving Back! ? Last Saturday, we had the pleasure of tabling at AS220’s Fashion Show & Clothing Drive, alongside amazing community partners Haus of Codec, Creative Reuse Art Center, and Mathewson Street Church! It was incredible to see young people using their skills to organize, create, and fundraise. Rosa, a Works Wonders? member, shined as both a model and designer, with people rocking her designs on the runway! ???? Drequan, Melanie, Q, and Mr. Hundi—also Works Wonders? members—brought the house down with their musical performances. ???? On top of all the creativity and talent, we received so many generous clothing donations that will support youth in our programs. We’ll be picking up the items heading to Foster Forward later this week! A huge thank you to everyone who made this event such a success! ?? #FosterForward #WorksWonders #CommunitySupport #FashionForGood #YouthEmpowerment
