Universal Health Coverage recognized as essential ? First-ever mention of Menstrual Health & SGBV But there’s also a lot missing—no direct mention of #SRHR or Comprehensive Sexuality Education #CSE, both critical for #GenderJustice. Desde Fòs Feminista, junto con ONU Mujeres y Articulación Feminista Marcosur, co-organizamos este encuentro junto a aliadas y aliados estratégicos para trazar caminos hacia una cooperación internacional más transformadora y comprometida con los derechos humanos.

? In February, we reached an important milestone for our Alliance! ? As part of our Feminist Futures Free from Violence initiative, Fós Feminista and partners held our first-ever Digital Symposium on feminist strategies to prevent and respond to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV). Over two days, nearly 30 Alliance partners and more than 150 participants from over 30 countries came together to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and reflect on collective feminist strategies to address SGBV in today’s context. This space was a testament to the power of collaboration and global solidarity. Thank you to everyone who made it possible! ??

At #CSW69, our colleague Shiphrah Belonguel, Global Advocacy Officer at Fos Feminista, delivered an important intervention highlighting how climate change and environmental degradation disproportionately impact women and girls, particularly those in vulnerable situations — threatening their rights, health, livelihoods, and well-being. She reminded us that: ?? Extreme climate events disrupt sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services, prevent access to water and sanitation, and increase gender-based violence. ?? In humanitarian and displacement contexts, SRHR services must be at the core of response strategies. ?? Women and girls are not just impacted — they are also leading the way forward. At Fos Feminista, we join the call for Member States to ensure the full, equal, and meaningful participation of women and girls in climate decision-making and to implement gender-responsive just transitions that leave no one behind. Girls worldwide still face harmful practices like #FGM, child marriage, and gender-based violence. But they are also powerful agents of change. At #CSW69, let’s push for policies that protect girls' rights, ensure access to education and health, and end all forms of discrimination—while working to #ProtectProgress made so far. Because a world that empowers girls is a world that thrives. ????

New data confirms what advocates have long warned: abortion bans disproportionately impact Black and Hispanic women, women without college degrees, and those living far from clinics. According to a new study covered by The New York Times, in states where abortion was banned after the Dobbs decision, births rose the most among women with fewer resources — those facing the highest barriers to care. Access to telehealth and cross-state services has helped some, but not all. Climate change and environmental degradation disproportionately impact all women and girls, especially those in vulnerable situations, threatening their rights, livelihoods, health, and well-being. At #CSW69, we urge Member States to recognize and address these gendered impacts by ensuring full, equal, and meaningful participation of women and girls in climate decision-making, and by implementing gender-responsive just transitions that leave no one behind.

Yesterday, during the Interactive Dialogue on Accelerating the Implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action: the role of the CSW, Luz Raidel, representative of MILES, delivered an intervention on behalf of Fòs Feminista and the Women’s Rights Caucus. She presented key recommendations for revitalizing the CSW, emphasizing the need for stronger accountability, inclusive participation, and the meaningful integration of feminist voices. We are proud to contribute to this dialogue and advocate for a stronger and more effective Commission on the Status of Women. ?? Watch the full intervention here ???? #CSW69

?? Historic Win for Women’s Rights in Kuwait ???? Kuwait has taken significant steps towards gender equality with two landmark reforms: the abolition of the ‘honor killing’ law (Article 153) and the raising of the legal marriage age to 18. Abolishing Article 153: This law, which previously allowed lenient penalties for ‘honor killings,’ has been repealed, marking a victory against gender-based violence. Raising the Legal Marriage Age: The minimum marriage age has been raised from 16 to 18, aligning with global child protection standards and empowering young girls to focus on education and personal development. These reforms come after years of advocacy by women’s rights groups like Abolish 153, who lobbied for these critical changes to protect women and girls. ??? While progress is being made, advocates remain hopeful for further reforms to combat violence and inequality, ensuring a safer and fairer future for women in Kuwait. ??
