Six weeks, countless takeaways. Just like that, our program with the Fall 2024 Forward 48 cohort is complete! We closed out our journey at the beautiful Wingspread Retreat & Executive Conference Center, thanks to the generosity of The Johnson Foundation. A special shoutout to Jim Popp, CEO of Johnson Financial Group, for leading a powerful final discussion on leadership and values: ?? "If you don’t find humility, it will find you." ?? Yesterday we had the privilege of hearing from State Representative Francesca Hong. She led us through a vulnerable conversation around hospitality and service, working with people that are different from you, and finding the pathway to hope. Here are just a few of our Session 5 highlights: ? "Imposter syndrome is a scam." –> Find the place where you feel like you belong and have a community that is affirming you and who you are. ? Shared experiences help to build connection and reveal the shared humanity in others. ? “I always try to make people feel seen and valued, even if they don’t see me.” ? “Being the first doesn’t mean sh*t if you are also the last.” ? “There is a path to hope. There may not always be hope, but there is always a path to it." Thank you, Fran, for leading with grace and humility, for grounding us, and for showing us that vulnerability is power. Leading Forward 48 is an honor—and one I don’t take lightly. My goal? To help our 25-40-year-old rising leaders build the strategic connections that drive real change. Our first faculty speaker, Scott Schwebel, Chief Experience Officer at the Milwaukee Art Museum, shared a simple but powerful idea: "be ambitious about the moment." Lately, I've been deep in my own head—career questions, family, trying to “think” my way forward. Forward 48 pulls me out of that spiral, forcing me to be present. And I couldn’t be more grateful to be in this role as host, right here, right now.
