Our partners at Columbus Monthly recently released an article highlighting Columbus' Fortuna Bank, written by editor, Katy Smith. In the article, Fortuna CEO Ilaria Rawlins stated, "when Fortuna Bank opens, it will be one of just three in the U.S. founded to encourage women’s financial empowerment. Still, it is a bank for everyone." Learn more about Fortuna Bank and its development here. Fortuna Bank (in organization) Columbus Monthly Magazine Katy Smith https://lnkd.in/eFAsiVXZ

Allissa Kline, thank you for sharing our story! We are thrilled to open our doors very soon and become a valuable community bank for everyone, with a special focus on supporting female entrepreneurs.
Women-owned banks are a rarity. Of the thousands of U.S. banks, there are about 18 that are majority owned by women, according to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. The number is set to increase by one, with the anticipated September opening of Fortuna Bank (in organization). Ilaria Rawlins, Fortuna's president and CEO, spent 10 intense months fund-raising, winding up with 340 shareholders and $20.7 million. Of those 340 shareholders, more than 75% are women, Rawlins said. "We know that women-owned businesses are growing. We know that women entrepreneurs are denied business loans … more often than men. We know they tend to ask for less when it comes to loans. And we know women are situated to inherit a significant amount of wealth," she said. "So we felt like there was an opportunity to fill those gaps."
