Our ReAct green cement has been on display and in use for more than a decade! In 2011-2012, Fortera's ReAct Blend played a vital role in reducing the carbon footprint of an office complex project in Menlo Park, California. Over 50 cubic yards of concrete were used for pathways, stairs, and a decorative topping slab—all made with approximately 5,000 pounds of ReAct Blend combined with 15,000 pounds of slag. The result? A carbon reduction of up to 49%! Creating low-clinker factor concretes that perform under real-world demands is a core strength of our Product Team. ?? If you're ready to take your project to the next level with low-carbon concrete that meets your construction schedule and performance requirements, we’d love to collaborate. In July of 2011, the City of Berkeley completed an exciting project at the West Berkeley Senior Center using Fortera’s vaterite calcined clay blended cement. Here’s what our VP of Products, Craig Hargis, had to say about this pour:? “This was the first vaterite calcined clay cement (VC3) concrete demonstration project. The City of Berkeley selected a blended supplementary cementitious material (SCM) that consisted of vaterite and calcined clay (VC2) for the project because it produced a concrete that met the project's needs for placeability, finishability, and strength development while providing superior durability and lowering the carbon footprint of the concrete by 14%. Today, we are working with industry experts at ASTM to make the changes necessary to the cement and SCM standards that would enable this kind of low-carbon concrete to be produced at scale through modifications to ASTM C595 and C1697.” It is exciting to see our early demonstrations still going strong!???
