One of the world's greatest untapped resources is the hundreds of millions of people worldwide who have inherent talent but never have the opportunity to achieve their potential. This begs the question of how we can unlock human potential at scale. I’m privileged to work daily with education experts, UBS Optimus Foundation partners, and #UBSGlobalVisionaries who are addressing this very question. One of these changemakers is Nat Ware, the founder and CEO of Forte. His organization is bringing a new proven way to finance human capital investments (such as high-quality education) at no cost to individuals or governments. With this approach, there's no debt burden for students or governments. Here's how it works: ? Private investors and philanthropists fund human capital investments (such as vocational retraining) for disadvantaged individuals. ? The individuals who receive those services pay nothing at all (either now or in the future), but rather this leads to greater expected employment, incomes and, therefore, income tax revenue to governments. ? Governments simply pass back a portion of the uplift in income tax they receive that's attributable to the retrained individuals. Governments just pass back what they otherwise would not have had. This approach has as much impact as scholarships but with far more scalability—making philanthropic dollars by recycling capital to have an ongoing, leveraged impact. Was a busy week last week at UNGA79 in New York! ??? Nat Ware and Sam Levine joined international leaders to discuss outcome-based education funding, job creation, and innovation in workforce development. Some highlights include: ?? Being a part of the panel on "Innovative Financing Models for Global Impact," which was organized by our amazing partner Atlassian Foundation. As part of the panel, Nat emphasized that the best way to fund education is to pay for outcomes, and that the greatest impact is achieved via collaboration. Special thanks to Mark Reading for pioneering a truly effective model of corporate philanthropy grounded in genuine partnership. Thanks also to the other speakers on the panel who are all doing amazing work at their respective organizations - Amel Karboul, Karthik Krishnan, and Richard Hawkes. ?? Meeting with the Minister of Information and Communication Technologies of Colombia, H.E. Mauricio Lizcano, including a discussion on how Forte can help the Colombian Government achieve their goal of training over 1 million Colombians for the tech jobs of the future. ?? Discussing with H.E.
