We were honored to support the St. Jude Children’s Hospital Spirit of Hope event this year. It was an inspiring evening dedicated to a wonderful cause. We’re incredibly proud to have played a role in putting it together. A huge shoutout to our amazing volunteers - Kristina Ifkovits, Elif Chavez, Carlos Lopez, and Mei Lyn Stout - who, in their second year as Spirit of Hope volunteers, generously donated their time to help out. This year’s team-building activity was at the paintball fields! It was a fantastic day filled with teamwork, strategy, and a lot of fun. From the start, everyone jumped into the action with enthusiasm. It was great to see how well we all worked together, forming strategies and supporting each other on the field. The event truly showcased our ability to collaborate and enjoy each other’s company outside of the office. A big thank you to everyone who participated – your energy and sportsmanship were what made the day special. Whether you were a paintball veteran or trying it for the first time, your involvement was appreciated!

IS-004, a new four-story middle school located in southern Brooklyn, has entered an exciting phase: steel erection! This crucial step marks a significant milestone in the construction of this educational facility. This new building, under the auspice of the NYC School Construction Authority, will have multiple unique features, such as modern terracotta rain-screen panels, a glass storefront on its western face, a green roof coupled with vegetation & solar panels, and will run 100% on electricity. The school spans a 14,000 square foot building footprint and a 21,000 square foot site footprint - designed to accommodate a variety of educational and recreational needs. Key components of the new school will include a gymnasium, cafeteria, and specialized District 75 classrooms on the first two floors, catering to diverse student requirements. The foundation will be reinforced with concrete footings and soil anchors embedded up to 60 feet deep, ensuring a strong and stable base as construction continues. As we move forward, our focus remains on completing this new innovative school safely, with the highest quality, and on time. We can't wait to see the project continue to take shape!

Senior Civil Engineering Student at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art
This summer, I had the opportunity to work as a Project Engineer Intern at Forte Construction Corp. on the ongoing 37 Elevators project. The project, which entails replacing elevators in 15 different stations across NYC, was a great learning experience. Being involved in a major elevator design-build project provided me with exposure to pre-construction planning and coordination among several large corporations. Throughout this phase, I gained valuable insights into the cost estimate breakdown for various project components, quality management and how standards and specifications are met to achieve exceptional project outcomes, and risk assessment for items such as permits, early design approvals, long lead materials, historic preservation, and the available space in each elevator machine room. To address or mitigate these risks, it was imperative to maintain and follow a proactive schedule for surveys, engagement with the MTA, and completed design packages. Working with a wide range of professionals including engineers, construction managers, and various experienced project participants taught me the collaborative process and teamwork necessary for successful project delivery. A special thank you to Nicholas Longo, P.E., Sunder Pratyush Reddy Mannemala, Charles Iovine, Keshav Radhakrishnan, Forte Construction Corp., and all the professionals who guided me throughout this internship. I am confident the experience, skills, and lasting connections I gained will greatly contribute to my growth and future success as a civil engineer.
