In mid-December, Fort Worth landed a $600 million-plus manufacturing plant that will bring an expected 520 jobs to this area. Bell, a Textron subsidiary, announced it was retrofitting and expanding an existing plant to house manufacturing operations for the company’s new assault helicopter, the U.S. Army’s Future Long Range Assault Aircraft set to replace the UH-60 Black Hawk as the U.S. Army’s long-range assault aircraft. The facility is expected to be ready for initial production by 2028. “Beyond the economic development win, attracting a plant to build a next-generation helicopter is something to be proud of in a city whose ties to the defense industry date back to the days of Camp Bowie and World War I and before”, Robert Allen, president and CEO of the Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership said. For the 13th year in a row, Texas has won the prestigious Governor’s Cup, given to the state with the highest total capital investment in economic development projects each year. Dallas-Fort Worth is driving the growth. Dallas-Fort Worth holds the No. 2 spot for metro areas in project count, second only to Chicagoland. DFW completed 489 projects, while Chicago led with 582. Fort Worth is making a significant contribution to the region's success. In the past two years, Fort Worth has generated $3.7 billion in capital investment, powered by investments from companies like Embraer, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and, more recently, Fort Worth-based Bell, which in December announced that it would make a $632 million investment in a new factory in Fort Worth to build the Future Long Range Assault Aircraft. “Texas is still the belle of the ball,” said Robert Allen, CEO of the Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership. “And for Fort Worth, it's a pretty strong statement that we're here, we're winning, and we're not going anywhere anytime soon. We've got a great package.” Read more on why Fort Worth is a top contributor to Texas’ win: https://ow.ly/IRJm50VhryM #FortWorth #FortWorthEDP #GovenorsCup

Mark Hart, CEO of Fort Worth-based Corriente Advisors LLC, highlighted North Texas as a prime location for further growth in the aerospace and space industries. Speaking at the 2025 Tarrant County Commercial Real Estate Forecast alongside Robert Allen, president and CEO of the Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership, Hart noted that the region is already home to numerous defense and aviation companies, making it well-positioned for expansion. According to Hart, Fort Worth appeals to aerospace and other relocating companies due to its ample available land, robust infrastructure, and the cultural amenities of a major city. “We’ve got the ingredients,” Allen said. “It’s a good culture, all positive things.” There is “definitely a need to increase the production pipeline of software engineers in Fort Worth and in the region” to meet long-term economic goals, he said. “The good news is our higher education institutions are investing heavily, obviously, in some of those spaces.” https://ow.ly/XgnY50V95al #FortWorth #FortWorthEDP #Aerospace #Aviation #Space #Industry #Defense
