As the Texas A&M-Fort Worth downtown campus takes shape, plans for its academic programs and business hubs are becoming clearer. “We’re building this campus, and we’re building this kind of innovation district,” said Robert Ahdieh, chief operating officer of Texas A&M-Fort Worth. “But really it’s the content that’s going to flow into those buildings that really is going to be transformative.” The campus will have academic programs in engineering, nursing, business and performance, visualization and fine arts. But on the business side, there will be hubs — or academic and industry collaborations — in aerospace, agriculture, entrepreneurship, workforce education, health care innovation, and media and entertainment. In mid-December, Fort Worth landed a $600 million-plus manufacturing plant that will bring an expected 520 jobs to this area. Bell, a Textron subsidiary, announced it was retrofitting and expanding an existing plant to house manufacturing operations for the company’s new assault helicopter, the U.S. Army’s Future Long Range Assault Aircraft set to replace the UH-60 Black Hawk as the U.S. Army’s long-range assault aircraft. The facility is expected to be ready for initial production by 2028. “Beyond the economic development win, attracting a plant to build a next-generation helicopter is something to be proud of in a city whose ties to the defense industry date back to the days of Camp Bowie and World War I and before”, Robert Allen, president and CEO of the Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership said. For the 13th year in a row, Texas has won the prestigious Governor’s Cup, given to the state with the highest total capital investment in economic development projects each year. Dallas-Fort Worth is driving the growth. Dallas-Fort Worth holds the No. 2 spot for metro areas in project count, second only to Chicagoland. DFW completed 489 projects, while Chicago led with 582. Fort Worth is making a significant contribution to the region's success. In the past two years, Fort Worth has generated $3.7 billion in capital investment, powered by investments from companies like Embraer, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and, more recently, Fort Worth-based Bell, which in December announced that it would make a $632 million investment in a new factory in Fort Worth to build the Future Long Range Assault Aircraft. “Texas is still the belle of the ball,” said Robert Allen, CEO of the Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership. “And for Fort Worth, it's a pretty strong statement that we're here, we're winning, and we're not going anywhere anytime soon. We've got a great package.” Read more on why Fort Worth is a top contributor to Texas’ win: https://ow.ly/IRJm50VhryM #FortWorth #FortWorthEDP #GovenorsCup

Yesterday, German global technology giant Siemens electronically cut the ribbon on its new $190 million electrical equipment manufacturing plant in Fort Worth. The 500,000-square-foot facility, at 7200 Harris Legacy Drive at Carter Park East, has already created 480 jobs and is expected to add a total of 800 by 2026. Barry Powell, regional CEO of electrical products for Siemens smart infrastructure North America division, said, “the location in the southern sector of Fort Worth was perfect for the company given its easy access to Interstate 35W and Tarrant County College being just down the road.” Siemens officials said they are working to establish a program with the school to train workers for the plant.
