A throwback to April 2024, when Rylee Gunn from Florida #PublicPower utility Fort Pierce Utilities Authority participated in the Public Power #LineworkersRodeo. After completing her apprenticeship, Gunn will join the ranks of female journeyman lineworkers from public power utilities including South Carolina’s Santee Cooper, North Carolina’s Fayetteville Public Works Commission, and Ohio’s Cleveland Public Power. https://ow.ly/rULC50SXSNg #TBT
We are very proud of our very own Rachel Tennant, FPUA’s Director of Public Affairs and Sustainability, who presented at this year’s Florida Municipal Electric Association annual conference. Her team is responsible for millions of dollars of grant funds raised for our local utility infrastructure since 2022, and she presented to Florida’s municipal electric companies about how to build an in-house grants team dedicated to raising funds for infrastructure projects.
Attendees of the 2024 FMEA Annual Conference enjoyed an afternoon of concurrent breakout sessions, which enabled them to choose which presentations to attend based on their professional interests. After three days of educational and networking opportunities, we look forward to bringing the conference to a close this evening at the Annual Banquet. The new FPUA Mainland WRF! The relocation of the sewer plant off of Hutchinson island has a handful of benefits. Some of these benefits include eliminating the need to draw from the Floridian aquifer, potential to restore seagrass, and eliminating storm risk. The pictures shown below are the beginning stages of the new AquaNereda Basin. Once completed it will be the largest in North America.
