Today, the City of Forney and StreetLevel Investments celebrated the groundbreaking of The Village at Gateway. This 143-acre development, located near North Gateway Boulevard and U.S. Highway 80, will be a regional hub for retail, services, and dining, catering to both Forney residents and beyond. This development will feature significant retailers, including Target, HEB, and Home Depot. In addition to these major anchors, the Village at Gateway will include convenience retail, fast casual, sit-down restaurants, and more. “The Village at Gateway will be more than a shopping center; it will be a gathering place, a destination, and a source of pride for Forney. This project represents the exciting, bright future we have ahead. And I speak on behalf of every city council member, past and present when I say how proud we are to deliver this for you,” stated Mayor Jason Roberson, MBA. We are grateful to the dedication and vision of past and present city staff, council members, and EDC board members who have worked tirelessly to bring The Village at Gateway to life. Their commitment has been instrumental in making this project a reality.

The City of Forney is proud to announce the appointment of Michael Grace as the new Director of the Forney Economic Development Corporation. With over 20 years of experience in municipal planning and development, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this role. A Dallas native, Michael holds a Master of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Oklahoma. His career includes serving as Assistant City Manager & Chief Operations Officer and Chief Economic Development Officer for the City of Ferris, TX, Managing Principal of Metro Development Consulting, Director of Unincorporated Area Services for Dallas County, and Director of Development Services for the Cities of Lancaster and Willow Park, TX, among other significant roles in both the public and private sectors. Michael is also certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners and is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute. Additionally, Michael serves on various committees and regional boards. City Manager Charles Daniels expressed his enthusiasm for the new appointment, stating, "We are excited to welcome Michael to the City of Forney. His extensive experience will be invaluable in driving the city’s growth and supporting our mission to build a thriving community." Michael shared his excitement about the new role, saying, "I’m honored and energized to lead Forney’s economic development efforts. Forney offers a unique opportunity with a promising future, and I look forward to joining the team and contributing to its success."

Texas Health Resources, the health system that cares for more North Texans than any other, is expanding services in Kaufman County, including building a new full-service hospital and on-campus medical office building in Forney. The new hospital, to be built on 50 acres located along Highway 80, will be the first full-service acute care hospital in the city of Forney and will be designed for additional expansion for future needs. Construction is expected to be completed in 2027. The hospital will offer an emergency room, operating suites, a labor and delivery department, a variety of imaging services as well as additional services to provide the full continuum of care to the growing community.
