Last week, we brought the entire Forj team together for our 2025 kickoff. This annual event is always a great way to build our culture and align for the year ahead. There were so many great moments and conversations and it brings me great pride to share just a few. Learning from our clients - One of the highlights of this event is the opportunity to hear directly from our clients. This year Dan Freeman, Deborah A. Stone, MBA, PhD, CVPM, Aubrey Trecek, Shannon Novotny and Emily Ceryance made the trip to Wisconsin to join our event, share about their organizations and identity ways we can grow in our partnership together. We had a little fun together, too!? Have you ever had a client perform live on stage in front of your entire company?? How have you benefited from mentorship? The beauty of mentorship lies in its reciprocity. Both individuals grow when they approach the relationship with curiosity, authenticity, and a willingness to learn. Kurt Heikkinen and Terri Herrmann are colleagues once again but have engaged in, and enjoyed, an informal mentoring relationship for the past five years. If you are seeking a mentor, consider the following: ??What skills and strengths do you want to develop? Identify individuals who are naturally good in areas where you want to improve. ??Seek out a coach not a cheerleader. If you really want to develop, grow and advance, find someone willing to take you out of your comfort zone because that’s where the magic happens. ??Just ask. Many people find a person they admire and want to learn from, but they never ask. Don’t assume people are too busy for you. With the right relationship, the mentor will benefit just as much as the mentee. When Terri got the courage to ask Kurt, he was humbled and honored to be on the receiving end of the question and derives equal value from their relationship. January is National Mentoring Month.
