At a terminal in Lake Charles, LA, a customer had a corroded gauge hatch on a 110’ diameter diesel tank that needed repairing. They hired a vendor to stop the leaking roof, but failed. And before we were called in, the customer already spent 1.5M to get this problem fixed. The cost to take the tank out of service was an estimated 1.7M to the customer on top of what he already spent. Forge Bonded studs are fully qualified to ASME section IX and Forge Tech technicians are certified welding operators. For ASME qualification, we put the bonded studs through strength testing. They pass with flying colours, and here’s two of the tests: We apply a torque to the studs unit something gives. For ASME qualification, the studs only needs to pass 8 ft-lbs of torque, but they typically break off at 45 ft-lbs. So the studs are over 5 times as strong as required.
