Checking in with Chip:?We had the opportunity to visit Forestry Mutual Board Member Chip Capps recently as his crew was setting up on new tract of timber in Warren County, NC. ?United Risk Advisor Account Manager Michelle Strange, who has over 20 years in the insurance field, enjoyed the opportunity to witness the logging operation in action. The onset of cold weather certainly brings its own set of challenges for crew members, equipment, and general operations.?With the swing in temperatures, keeping proper traction and soil protection on the logging access road is particularly challenging.?To offset the temperature roller coaster, Capps makes sure there is no shortage of stabilizing rocks and wooden logging mats in place on the entrance/exit area and low points on the access road.?We appreciate Capps's friendship and business as a long-time member of Forestry Mutual Insurance Company and all he continues to do for the forest products community.?#FMIC #forestmutualinsurancecompany #URA #unitedriskadvisors #CLA #VFA #VLA #NCFA #FMICProud

We recently had the opportunity to attend a SHARP Logger class at the Keystone Antique Truck & Tractor Museum in Colonial Heights, VA where representatives from the Virginia State Police, Virginia DOT, Stephen Setliff's law practice, and Virginia Department of Forestry provided updates for SHARP loggers.?The VA Department of Forestry’s presentation highlighted our professional loggers ongoing excellent stewardship of our forest resources. It was noted that compliance with Best Management Practices (BMP's) ranks over 92 percent statewide in the most recent annual survey. Great job!! Forestry Mutual is a proud partner of the Virginia Loggers Association. Thanks to Ron Jenkins of the VLA for his hospitality. We learned, laughed and had a great time checking out the Keystone Museum. It was loaded with historical tractors, cars, and fire engines, and definitely worth a visit if you find the time in your schedule. #ForestryMutual #FMICProud #VLA #Virginialoggersassociation #sustainability #forestry #Unitedriskadvisors

We enjoyed the great program at the Forestry Association of South Carolina’s Annual Meeting held this week in Myrtle Beach. Certainly challenging times with recent mill closures in the state over the past few years, but the forest products community is a resilient group. Congrats to Cam Crawford and his staff for a fantastic meeting. And thanks to Dr. Patrick Hiesl of Clemson University for giving Forestry Mutual a congratulatory shout out for our social media posts emphasizing the use of PPE in the wake of Hurricane Helene. #forestrymutual #FMICProud #unitedriskadvisors #forestryassociationofsouthcarolina #forestry #sustainability

Thanks to the Tennessee Forestry Association for inviting our own Greg Helton to be an instructor as part of the association’s Master Logger Class recently held in Crossville, TN.?One of Forestry Mutual’s resident Chainsaw Trainers within our Loss Control team, Helton delivered training on proper chainsaw safety and different felling techniques as it pertains to standing timber and timber salvage operations.?The demonstration gave program participants a hands-on view of the techniques in a real-life environment with the opportunity to ask questions. ?For over 50 years, Forestry Mutual has been an insurance leader within the forest products community with its safety outreach programs delivered by its top-in-class Loss Control team. BIG THANKS to Greg for making the trip to Tennessee!??#FMICproud #forestrymutualinsurancecompany #URAproud #unitedriskadvisors #forestry #insurance #TFA #tennesseeforestryassociaiton
