Question: Who loves playing with fire? Answer: ?? Forestry students! ??
Dr. John Kush's plant ecology class recently ventured to the Mary Olive Thomas Demonstration Forest to practice their hand at drip torches, prescribed burns, and fire behavior! ?? Dr. Kush's class, like many other courses at the CFWE, uses experiential learning to instill tangible experiences outside of the classroom. His instruction focused on the importance of prescribed burns, comparing stands for growth patterns, and maximizing stand quality as well as covering how prescribed burning can help prevent wildfires, improve wildlife habitat, and restore natural ecosystems. ???? ??
