The Valles Caldera National Monument, in collaboration with the Santa Fe National Forest, Pueblo of Jemez, the Forest Stewards Guild Southwest Region, and many others, has released the comprehensive Southwest Jemez Final Monitoring Report, covering 15 years of restoration work. The report summarizes monitoring and management results from forest and watershed restoration treatments implemented across 210,000 acres. Guild programs, including the Forest Stewards Youth Corps, supported both implementation and socioeconomic monitoring. Restoration activities included tree thinning, wood utilization, stream restoration, and extensive use of prescribed and managed fire. We envision ecologically, economically, and socially responsible forestry as the standard for forest management
关于我们
The Forest Stewards Guild's mission is to promote ecologically, economically, and socially responsible forestry as a means of sustaining the integrity of forest ecosystems and the human communities dependent upon them. We are a professional organization of forest stewards and affiliates who are passionate about sustaining and restoring the integrity of our forests while meeting the needs of the communities that rely on them. Our members’ work provides tangible examples of forestry that is ecologically, economically, and socially responsible. The common bond of Guild members is a passion for forests and land stewardship. The practice of excellent forestry, promotion of a stewardship ethic, and adherence to our membership principles are the heart and soul of the Guild. Our members practice imaginative silviculture that respects the complexity of natural forests. We value the importance of field observation, experience, science, and continuous learning. We seek opportunities to collaborate, share our knowledge, and learn from others.

New research shared by the Forest Stewards Guild reveals a surprising finding: people cause nearly twice as many wildfires each year as lightning strikes. The data comes from the USDA Forest Service and Northern Arizona University. https://lnkd.in/dMq2cnaj #ForestStewardsGuild #WildfirePrevention #ForestConservation #EnvironmentalResearch

A recent analysis by Headwaters Economics found that the Community Wildfire Defense Grant (CWDG) program is successfully benefiting at-risk, low-income communities across the country. This U.S. Forest Service program helps communities reduce wildfire risk, and so far, about one-third of the $420 million awarded has gone to low-capacity communities. The Forest Stewards Guild is proud to be one of over 250 recipients in the first two rounds of CWDG grants. Sweeping workforce cuts at federal land management agencies are raising serious concerns about the future of conservation. "The impacts of what’s happening right now are going to be felt for years, if not decades," says Guild Deputy Director Eytan Krasilovsky. "It’s going to be really hard to rebuild morale, faith, and trust after this."
