Our Continuing Education event this Suicide Prevention Month featured Foresight's VP of Therapy Caiti Crum talking about assessing suicide risk. One of the important items she highlighted is the difficult conversations therapists may encounter if someone is considering suicide using a firearm. Starting a conversation can help save a life. People who are having thoughts of suicide feel relief when someone asks about them in a caring way. Arm yourself with the knowledge and tools to help those at-risk and change the conversation around suicide and mental health. #suicidepreventionmonth

National Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15 to October 15, celebrates the rich tapestry of histories, cultures, and contributions of Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. "Hispanic" encompasses many different cultures and traditions. Universally, these communities share a stigma surrounding mental health in which feelings of shame or weakness keep people from seeking mental health care. As we celebrate the ongoing contributions of Hispanic communities to our nation's culture, let's also work to stop the stigma around mental health and start a conversation about prioritizing well-being.
