At Forelight Advisory, we work to navigate the future of resources and energy and this week our Managing Directors, Clare Larkin-Sykes and Lucy McClean shone bright at the International Future of Mining Conference in Sydney, co-hosted by AusIMM and UNSW. The conference attracted over 270 delegates from 15 countries and over three days of plenary, technical and panel sessions brought the best in the world to tackle some of the key themes for our future including sustainability, skills and workforce, IoT, visualisation, AI and quantum as well as off Earth and deep sea. Clare dedicated many hours on the Advisory Committee for the Conference and moderated the closing panel on Future Mining & ESG and Lucy presented papers on both ESG (environment, social and governance) and DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion). Great to be part of the 2024 REIIF forum where Clare Larkin-Sykes facilitated the Resources Session as well as presented on an important initiative for the region – the INGA Innovation Hub. Forelight Advisory led and delivered the Business Case for this project for RDA Orana. The team at Forelight Advisory is thrilled ??to have delivered the sixth report in the International Copper Association Australia Roadmap to Zero project - Discovery??. Since beginning in 2019, this Project has evolved as a unique industry collaboration that is designed to guide and support the copper industry towards more sustainable mining. Copper continues to have a foundational role in modern society and its diverse applications are integral to a clean energy future. As copper ore bodies become deeper and more complex, innovation related to exploration and discovery are central to better defining and delineating mineral deposits, accelerate discovery timeframes and support ESG. Forelight Advisory led the design and delivery of the project and facilitated the technical working groups that informed the findings. We are still on a high and reflecting on an incredible NewH2 - Hunter New Energy Symposium held last week! Forelight Advisory Managing Director Clare Larkin-Sykes co-leads NewH2, who alongside HunterNet Co-operative and other partners organised and curated the Symposium for its second year. The Symposium was also attended by Forelight senior consultant Tamsin Martin. We listened to insights from speakers across industry, government, research, and capital markets on the Hunter region's evolution into the engine room of manufacturing and new energy. There were so many great discussions held over the two days including a range of breakout sessions – tackling the new energy challenge - and all fuelling a collective vision for growth and development for the region. It is hard not to be energised when a regional cluster grows from inception to a model of active and authentic collaboration. As the Hunter gears up for the hard work in the years ahead, it is with these foundations that collective ambition will just keep running stronger and deeper!
